I hate to sound cynical, but with either two of those three drivers they can get comfortable with the back row of the grid.USF1 Team would love to sign up Danica Patrick
16 February 2009
The all new Formula 1 team 'USF1' is hoping to enter Formula 1 in 2010 with IndyCar sensation Danica Patrick as one of its drivers. Patrick is one of the most popular drivers in IndyCar and would give the US F1 team a major boost in popularity to attract new sponsors.
The USF1 team will announce its plans 24 February and will settle down in Charlotte. There are several drivers on the short-list but Danica Patrick is high on the team's wishlist. "She's great. She gets a lot of press," USF1 technical director Ken Anderson told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Tony George would probably be pretty mad with me if I took her out of the IRL but we'll see.
"I don't know if it's something she wants to do. We'd certainly love to test her and go from there."
A number of other drivers that were rumoured to be on the USF1 team list are former Toro Rosso driver Scott Speed but also the son of former F1 driver Derek Daly, Conor Daly is being mentioned.
F1 USA Team to join in 2010?

Re: F1 USA Team to join in 2010?
Oh dear...Her performances are considerably better on ovals than road courses, and she's not very good on ovals anyway. Also she'd get loads of publicity simply because she's a female driver, even though she won't be very good.I'd like to see them give a shot to other Indycar drivers who aren't American,I'd like to see people like Dixon and Wheldon given a shot.
Re: F1 USA Team to join in 2010?
^I agree, Danica will get a lot of publicity, like she does now in the Indycars, but she'll be just another back-row driver. And didn't Wheldon once say he'd like to finish his carrer in F1?
Conor Daly hardly has enough experience to drive in F1, and Scott Speed will not take it because of how bad he did in 2006 and 2007. If any American driver is ready to be in F1, it would be Graham Rahal because of how well he does on road courses, but I doubt he'd even be ready for F1.

Re: F1 USA Team to join in 2010?
I don't really follow Indycar but I know Danica isn't that great, there is only fuss surrounding her because she is a woman.
I mean, come on, she's won a race. And I heard she has an advantage on ovals anyway, as there are minimum car weight limits that don't take the driver into account. As she is small and light, she has an advantage over some heavier drivers, but still has only 1 win.

Signing Danicka will be the best thing for F1. Waw, nobody looks like this

Re: F1 USA Team to join in 2010?
Danica is a good driver that never wins. Here one win wasnt that great. She's fantastic on the eyes and sponsorship money but when she doesnt produce in a more expensive race series how long will they really stick around. This is sad. Lets be honest here, America doesn't have an American driver ready for F1. The only one i'd even consider would be Scott Speed ONLY because he just left F1 NOT because he was good. And you guys are right, all things considering the best thing they can hope for is to beat out Force Inda when they do join in 2010. Even that will be a job in itself. Hello Back of the Grid!
Go Kimi Go!!!!
Re: F1 USA Team to join in 2010?
^Agreed, bar Patrick Long (maybe) or Marco Andretti. Scott Speed seems to be occupied in Nascar though .
Don't sign Towsend Bell, he's a terrible driver. Charlie Kimball isn't that great, Adam Andretti doesn't have the experience, and I've never even heard of Jake Roswenzweig. Patrick Long would be the best pick for the drive.iceman1 wrote:Ken Anderson: "What Danica lacks in talent, she will make up in sponsorship money."

Here's extracts from an interview with Peter Windsor about USF1.Peter Windsor is a good journalist who always seems to talk sense whenever I read F1 Racing, and he talks a lot of sense.I can't see him getting involved unless it was genuine, and this team is a great idea except for the fact that the US doesn't like F1,and there are no quality American drivers.I'd love to see them follow my idea and employ Dixon,Franchitti,Wheldon or some others like them, but it looks like they're employing American drivers only.

To swca92:
I'd say there are some Americans that love F1 including myself, but not like the masses that love NASCAR. We're out there in small groups and sometimes by ourselves like me.
To metalhead188:
Always looked forward to the Canadian GP and Brazilian GP cause its run on the east coast time and it works for me!
And we do have some of the best drivers in the world.......in their respective series

If there are 2 US drives then it would have to be Graham Rahal and Mario Andretti - they can't be worse than Yuji Ide surely?
