F1 2012?

Post by phil1993 » 31 Jan 2009, 14:53

Picture the scene.

Its January 2012; 3 seasons have passed since the introdcution of the new reg cars. But, just for a bit of fun, what drivers (from any f3/gp2 etc do you see in which teams? (the current 9)

eg.

McLaren: Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg
Ferrari: Sebastien Vettel, Fernando Alonso
Renault: Romain Grosjean, etc etc etc

so what do you think...

I see Vettel being defending champion, with Nico Hulkenberg joining defending constructers champions BMW alongside Kubica.I see Force India looking to win races after a strong 4th in the constructers championship with Chandhok and Di Resta both Finishing in the top 10 of the drivers standings.Kovalainen will be trying to resurrect his career at Red Bull, while Nelson Piquet joins Prodrive laong with half the Renault staff after their withdrawal from F1,while Massa joins Toyota alongside Alonso as they try to get overdur success.

I see McLaren making a horrid mistake which will force them to pull out of F1 and no-one wants Hamilton, Kubica is champion, there is only 10 cars in the field

I say you can't predict it.

Who'd have predicted Massa at Ferrari back in 2002? Or Lewis Hamilton at McLaren?

I think it will be who we least suspect, and probably who we've never heard of contesting the title.

Ferrari
Sebastian Vettel
Experienced number 2 driver

McLaren
Lewis Hamilton
Mark Webber

BMW
Robert Kubica
Fernando Alonso

Renault and Toyota have both left the sport to be replaced by 2 independent teams, helped by the budget cap. Lewis Hamilton is a triple world champion after winning 2008,2009 and 2011. Alonso wins the 2010 title in the BMW Sauber. Toro Rosso now excist's under a new name and leadership. Kimi Raikkonen has retired after the 2009 season with Felipe Massa taking a drive lower down the field. Less and less drivers are finding there way into F1 from the lower divisions. Only Di Grassi, Hulkenburg and Buemi have claimed race seats.

Aero and chassis restrictions have been somewhat lifted due to the FIA's study of the public's questionaire data, New point system in place where 1st gets 4 points more than 2nd. Team's now limited to 2 engines per car per season. Standard engine and gearbox from Cosworth goes down well helping the new independent teams to function.

Brendon Hartley + Jaime Alguesuari talented rookies or second year drivers at Red Bull.
Title fight between the Ferraris - Vettel and Kubica.
No Renault, no Toyota in F1. More indie teams.
Raikkonen out of F1, Massa driving for a poor team, Alonso ??? and Hamilton still loyal to McLaren.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

And didn´t he have a good enough car to beat Vettel in Italy this year (when he started from the second positions, i.e. just behind Sebastian)? I know that they treat him as a pet in the team, not a real driver but still, he´s far away of a candidate for the title, and the race I mentioned above is just an example about his possibilities...
