Montoya was a real disaster that year: Spun in the last corner of qualifying at Hockenheim trying to beat kimi, he also spun in a formation lap, cant recall wich race, but he did it, tv coverage showed Ross Brawn smiling right after that. I think he couldnt accept the fact that Kimi was faster than him, he just lost it.

Olivier Panis did a wonderful job in the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix. From 14th on the grid, he passed many and had some luck with retirements to win.

Also, Rubens Barrichello at the 2000 German Grand Prix, from 18th. That was an amazing drive.

I was worse than that! It was one of the worst McLarens of recent history...even Kimi couldn't get a win in one. He got a win in the 2004 McLaren which was bad...so this was terrible.

Kimi in 2005 is the most memorable.

And the 2006 McLaren wasn't that bad really. It was just below the high standards that McLaren usually set themselves. Kimi took a couple of poles and with some luck, could of won a few races.

yeah that relaiability cost them in 2005, if u have a f22- that goes over 2mach - but if it can t finish the race then it usles, fast car and also relaiability key for winning, alonso proved it in 2005 -- he had not the quickest car but the car that never breaks down -- like kimi 2005 nurburg, imola, hockenheim, that all cost mclaren the championship, and alonso was always there to pick up the sweet revard when mclaren breaked down

I think the Mercedes V8 wasn´t good enough in the first half of 2006, they lacked a good 2000rpm compared to the Cosworth V8 in the first couple of races, plus the reliability wasn´t good enough. In terms of speed the car was 3 rd fastest I would say, the Renault had a better engine and was easyer to drive, the Ferrari was not that good at the start of the season, especially Bridgestone had trouble, but in the second half of the season it was often the quickest car, but it was the slow start wich cost them the title. Alonso and Renault did a brilliant job in the first 5-6 races, almost unbeatable like in 2005. That was the key plus the good reliability.
