Bulgaria 'keen to host F1 race'

Post by premier » 08 Dec 2008, 12:27

What about that:

The Bulgarian Motorcycling Federation has said it is keen to host a Formula One race in the near future.

"It'll be very difficult but I think we'll succeed," BMF's president Bogdan Nikolov was quoted as saying in 24 Chasa daily.

Nikolov said they would submit a plan and an application to the FIA on December 15 for consideration by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone (pictured) the following day.

According to the plan, a circuit is to be built near the Balkan country's northern town of Pleven.

Bulgaria is due to host a round of the World Rally Championship in 2010 and hope to host a round of motorcycling's MotoGP in 2011.

as expected f1 is getting more popular.
I hope they do not have to remove the current races to add these in the calender. But the maximum races that can be held in a season is 20. So we cant have all. Lets see if they want to increase the number of races in a season.

And a new track is better than an old one.

maybe Bulgaria could replace Hungary, it´s both in eastern europe and the Hungaroring is very odd, not that great for the TV audience.

Its not the TV audience that decide, is it. Its actually Bernie, and what actually matters is money. And its actually unlikely as Hungary would be more popular with new Polish fans.
