Poll - should the 10 places penalty be eliminated?

Post by jana7i » 09 Mar 2007, 13:20

1) i dont see how a driver should be penalized for mechanical failure [-(

2) i think this is 1 of the worst rules in F1, it kills races and championships [-(

3) its a main factor that played in the 2005 championship. kimi lost 10s of points just for this rule [-(

4) if your engine blows, put in a new 1 and lets race for pole position!!!!! that what i think 8)

5) what do u think? :-k

mass insanity.. i can't believe they wont allow engine development from here on out...

i guess it can do what they want it to, to promote efficiency, but i don't see how they can make it more efficient with the current design frozen.
should the 10 places penalty be eliminated? hmm...dunno but i think yes :-#

10 places on the grid is a bit too much for drivers. I would give a penalty to the team (maybe 5 points) and no penalty to the driver.

things were just fine before this rule was introduced. if a team finds a problem in the engine it was changed. the championship was more competitive because you were almost guaranteed that engine failures will not send a title contender to the back of the grid in a significant point of the season!!
anyways, they changed the rule for this year. now, engine changes on Friday will not be subject to this rule anymore.

im fwaling 50/50 on both coz if u wouldnt get penalized every team would be changing engines! but we all want to see some awesome racing and if a top runner has an engine problem then he will go back 10 postions!

because when a engine is a race older and another team gets a new 1, the new engine will have slightly more power then the older 1. :-k

ok but if its ok to change engines, then all teams will use new engines, and the advantage you are talking about is eliminated

what im talking about is completely eliminating the 1 engine/ 2 races rule.
the only reason it was introduced was to reduce cost, same as the new engine development freeze

if the 2 race per 1 engine rule stays, but the penalty is dropped, then yes, i agree with you completely

If the engines were constantly changing think of the financial and just complete strain it would put on a team like Spyker.

Hmmm. I've got mixed views.

I think the penalty is fair, not too sure why... Possibly because the teams would keep changing the engines and as Super Aguri said it costs so much to do that... I think the penalty is there to stop the teams from over spending even more then they already do...

But why penalising the diriver for something which most probably is not his mistake? Anyways. 10 places is tooo far behind, I think.
