2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
What a great race for Vettel, he did an amazing job. And so did Lewis Hamilton, he really was the man of the day I think ; a bit disappointed for Fernando, the third place wasn't that far for him but four is a good place to finish a GP.
Kimi started to be truly fast when the track began to become dry at some locations, too bad for him.

Hamilton is a very hard and sometimes dirty driver, no doubt about that. But I must defend him this time, it´s not his fault anymore, if others chicken out. Everybody knows his driving style by now and if the other guys let him get away with it, well it´s not Hamilton´s problem. The Glock "incident" was Schumi like I agree with that, but hey that´s racing it had nothing to do with advantage by cutting a chicane or something like that, just very hard racing. No penalty was ok.
The Webber "incident" could have been penalised, Hamilton was a bit dirty on that one, but Webber didn´t loose much, so it´s als ok not to punish Hamilton.
I wonder, why Alonso was that "kind", he has much less to lose than Hamilton, I thought he would do the Montoya today, with 2007 on his mind.
But credit to him for beeing a good sportsman, although it´s about time, that somebody withstands Hamilton.
And last but not least I want to ask scermat, why are you calling this race an "epic" race by Hamilton? I think it was quite obvious, that his set up was perfect for the conditions, at the beginning when the track was very wet, he wasn´t making progress for the first 8 laps or so. And after his second stop he also wasn´t able to overtake anyone in front of him.
In my oppinion, he made the most out of it for sure and it´s always good to gain 8 places, but there was a window, when the track perfectly suited his car and he had a huge advantage.
Otherwise he wouldn´t have been able to for example overtake kubica so easy, because the BMW was very fast in dry conditions.
He also didn´t drive the fastest lap of the race.
It was a good race by him, with great car set up and good team strategy, but not epic.
By the way, Kimi is just a big disgrace in the wet, everytime it rains his performances are awful.
Ok fastet lap, but the track was almost dry then.
I would bet money, that he won´t see the end of his 2010 contract.

I think I would too ; while watching the race I thought "Kimi it's really time to wake up, if you keep on this way, you're gonna lose your place at Ferrari".blizzard wrote: I would bet money, that he won´t see the end of his 2010 contract.

Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
it was epic because his strategy failed him yet he still managed to make a lot of ground. especially when compared to kimi who i think is no slouch in the wet (maybe this is why you dont think it was epic) who couldnt make up any ground.
Lewis had a lot of traffic and needed to carve his way up in front. not every day you see overtaking in f1. today lewis alone pulled off more overtakings than we usually see in 4 GPs in total.
i too dont think kimi would see the end of his 2010 contract. but has not a lot to do with his driving abilities (or lack of)

Kimi is bored now I think. hes won a title, got 2 runners up spots, many wins. Kubica/Vettel/Webber to Ferrari in 2010 i think.

I have to say I was very disappointed with Kimi, he has the pace as shown in the later stages, but no longer seems to be able to push the whole race.
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
Should Massa be 08 champion, Kimi will not like having Number 2 on his car.
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
well, i think massa don't want to have number 2 on his car either...
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 79° GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA
Random fact - all but 2 (Super Aguri, Force India) teams have been on the podium this year.
Ferrari and McLaren nearly all the time
BMW many times
Renault - Piquet in Hock, Williams -Rosberg in Oz
Toyota - 2, Glock and Trulli in Hungary and France
Red Bull and Toro Rosso - Coulthard and Vettel
Honda - Barrichello
which equates to 13 of the 22 drivers who started the season

Kimi was unlucky today. He was no worse than Massa, but got caught out by traffic, the change to inters and the Ferrari's drivability in the wet.In the semi-dry he was mega.
