kimi had every right pushing hamilton because he was in front and the sesible thing for hamilton to do was to brake and follow kimi throught the last chicane and wait for kemmel straight.Fergie1 wrote:Hamilton was pushed in the first place so he has every right not to be 50 car lengths behind. 2008 FORMULA 1 Belgian Grand Prix

Exactly, but maybe he wasn't full throttle, but you know, referring to no TC he can't give full throttle then, Kimi can't either so that's a good excuse like saying, look, I wasnt full throttle. But he definately got advantage. If he was behind Kimi out of the chicane, there would have been a small gap!Living Legend wrote:I've watched it over and over again, its true lewis gave up the lead but lets be honest,
He's saying that he waited till kimi past him then he was in full throttle, that just can't be true. There is no way lewis would've delayed full throttle that long and still manage to stay that close to him and overtake him right in the next turn, and I know how good the mclarens are in wet conditions. I mean the moment kimi's car was completly ahead of lewis "or lewis giving up the lead!!" he attacked him and got passed him, so he did have an unfair advantage by having full throttle perhaps while they were side by side !!.OK, this is alright, so I began to accelerate but slowly. I don't believe I was full throttle, I was waiting for him to accelerate past which he did.
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 Belgian Grand Prix
While being demoted from the win is very harsh, I now believe that a penalty is justified. Perhaps a 10 grid penalty at the next race would have been more "fair" but watching the video several times and looking at how long it took Raikkonen to get past him, I can say - perhaps biased - that Lewis barely lifted, more like what street racers do when they wanna get in parallel to anothe rcar and drag race - like downshifting and speed matching but able to accelerate instantly. And again, judging at how easily he caught up and moved to the right, the speed differential was slight. 6 kph slower? Is that sufficient ? Wasn'*t that the full throttle top speed difference between some cars at the top of Eau Rouge ?
Looking on the official F1 website, the speed trap top speed was
Kovi Q 315
Sutil 312
Massa 311
Hami 310
Heid 310
Web 308
So, raikkonen is not among the top 5, meaning he had a slower car in terms of top speed. Now as far as I am concerned, the 6 kph difference that McLaren is claiming, could simply be the difference between the 2 cars' top speed, which is not sufficient to give credibility to their claim. Simply said, he did not slow down enough...or rather, he made it too damn obvious overtaking him in the very next corner.

erm guys you're forgetting the fact that if lewis was accelerating as hard as kimi there was no way in hell kimi would've gotten ahead of lewis. and he got ahead enough for kimi to swerve ahead of him. considering lewis went into the chichane just ahead of kimi i think that's giving back more than enough.
mind you anyone knows what regulation 30.3a even says? cause kimi broke that at least 3 times today. lewis broke that at least twice. and virtually 80% of the drivers broke that.
well i figured most of you dont so here you go "30.3 a) During practice and the race, drivers may use only the track and must at all times observe the provisions of the Code relating to driving behaviour on circuits."
technically that rule is broken if you run over the white lines. OOoooops.

Nonsense. Hamilton was pushed nowhere. Kimi had the racing line all the way. Hamilton should have realized that by being on the inside of Kimi in the chicane his only options were either to crash into Kimi or cut the chicane. He should have backed off and tried to overtake again later.Fergie1 wrote:Hamilton was pushed in the first place so he has every right not to be 50 car lengths behind. Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 Belgian Grand Prix
penalty for hamilton is not right (and Iam Ferrari fan)
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1 Belgian Grand Prix
BTW after hamilton has overtaken Kimi at la source, he then after radillon changes his line twice, which is against racing code. You can say that Kimi before la source made alot of changes to his line, but those were all little movements, he made only one real change of line, to the outside, and the again to the outside, but hamilton was already past him and he positioned to overtake at the apex of la source, but hamilton closed the door.

Did someone say that Heidfeld, Alonso and Bourdais were under investigation for passing under yellows? What became of that, or was that misinformation.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

I hope they don't take away anything from Bourdais...he already lost quite a bit today.TwistedArmco wrote:Did someone say that Heidfeld, Alonso and Bourdais were under investigation for passing under yellows? What became of that, or was that misinformation.

Glock given 25-second penalty
07 September 2008 / Results / Photos
Timo Glock has been given a 25-second time penalty added to his total race time after stewards ruled that he had overtaken Red Bull Racing's Mark Webber under a yellow flag following Kimi Raikkonen's accident. The penalty drops Glock from eighth, and out of the points. Webber moves up one spot to be officially classified as eighth.

i dont think they will be punished, because the yellows was just in a small straight before the bus stop and heidfield overtook the others before stavolet while alonso overtook in bustop.TwistedArmco wrote:Did someone say that Heidfeld, Alonso and Bourdais were under investigation for passing under yellows?
