Wet Weather Visibility at night...

well the waether in singapore is the same as malayasia, but remember it is night race, so the track temperature is got to drop, resulting in maybe less grip (lets see)
According to the interviews eith the singapore Gp management i believe cameras would not affect the drivers as the lights from the circuit would make those flashes of cameras nothing at all.
Singapore, specially the circuit is very near to vast expanse of water so humidity is higher and rain is possibility. I hope they do not red flag the race because the rain would make things more interesting and also red flag at the first singapore gp would not be good for its history.

red flag would mean disaster for singapore gp !! but i given the time of its slot i doubt whether singapore would be hit with rain !

a sudden power failure would worry me more... wanna bet that the f1 cars would be fitted with headlights just for the singapore race

Wet weather will definitely lead to red flagging the race ! !

Will it depend on how much rain as well?

Obviously they aren't going to red flag a race if it's only light rain?

If it does happen, will it put any future races at this circuit in jeopardy?

There are many aspects that would come into play in a Night race. Lets look at a few things :

1. Reflection - Reflection of light is going to be a problem to any driver out there. What do you think about the glasses in the helmets, are they designed to withstand any heavy light in the race ? Moreover a high wattage light system throwing shine over a particular area is fine but what about a isometric perspective ? Imagine that a driver at a particular lane by mistake looks into the light source at the end of the lane when he is driving ?? He simply would lose control and then its chaos.

2. Pit Stops - I wonder how pit stops would look like ? Will they have a fully lit garage kind of setup where the car would sweep in, get refuelled and get out ? Looks likely, but how about oil spills or other debris which falls on the track ? Can that be spotted and got rid off w/o affecting anyone ??

This post isn't to criticize or demoralize any prospective Singapore GP race goer ! I am just putting in my thoughts.

Bourdais would go into the concrete anyway, without the help of his glasses. The visors on their helmets are pretty much designed with variations of light and darkness in mind. No, I would be fairly sure that they would have thought of stuff like that, but perhaps a race like Indy 2005? Could be a farce. I hope not though..

lol.......they gonna have backup and that two 2 backups if power fails they have the backup

yep I heard about those backup generators, but when they first said a night race I thought it ment no lighting, just darkness!

Cant wait for singapore night race..

Eventhough I stay in Malaysia.. but the race track (street road used for the race is across the singapore marina bay) just allocated about 20 kilometres from my university where I've studied now.

Malaysia-Singapore are only had separated by a bridge called 'Tambak Johor'.

I wish I can watch the race...so close to me.
Even as Malaysian, the f1 race at Sepang circuit is more far to me.. out:

Unless there's rain,I don't see any problems.I watched the Moto GP night race in Qatar on TV and there were no problems with darkness.The lighting system that will be used for Sigapore will be so powerful visibility should be fine.However rain in night races has never been seen,so what happens then is unknown.

something just came up my mind.
what if an accident knocks the light poles down.We see a lot of tyres jumping in case of an accident.those tyres could knock the poles down.

i think they i think the officials have precautioned in this matter. so maybe ther's a wall between the circuit and the light poles or they're massive enough.
