There's a video I found on You Tube about steering wheels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXrBi1Y46zU

J.J. Lehto says that Renault also has a similar system and that Alonso doesn't like it too much and doesn't even use it. Also, he says that it takes a lot of training to get it right, and it probably brings a tenth per lap max. Drivers have to operate two paddles with both hands, which requires a lot of coordination skills. Then, he says that McLaren has overall got their car working really well with aerodynamics etc.

Basically he downplays the significance of that wheel. Also, he says that it depends on the engine supplier if the teams are gonna implement a similar system.
that first link, is the picture of the steering wheel of BMW Sauber :nosweat:

Of course there is enough information! There's a standard ECU which FIA can read up until a sneeze from the driver, remember?

FIA does check on thottle mapping, steering wheels and so forth after every race.

Just look at this:

http://www.fia.com/germanygp/documents/ ... Report.pdf

So far the McLaren system is legal.

FIA will have to change the rules to make it illegal. Period.

I wonder whether McLaren have gained an advantage on this matter as they are the official ECU supplier with Microsoft.

I taught there were always 4 paddles with the bottom two as the clutch?

So, Kimi, Lewis and Hekki will use new engines whereas Felipe will use the same engine. Kimi's and Lewis' gear boxes will experience their last race.
What about Mark Webber ? His engine blew up in Germany, isn't he allowed to use a fresh one in Hungary then ?
Yeah he should be able to use a new one.

I don't think so. Anything that becomes a standard unit means there is no more trying to gain advantage out of it.

I think most of u guys have gone off topic. As for the Hungarian GP it will be close between Ferrari & McLaren. But looking at the results i think Macca has got the upper hand & lewis is capitalising on it.As there is not much point difference between the top 4 drivers one mistake from any of them can have big changes in the points table. For ferrari they have a lot of work to do to catch up Mclaren. That we will wait & see it the tests at jerez has bought something good for them & obviously from Fp1 onwards we will see the result

Throttle mapping hmmm .. i dunno if they are allowed to change for every corner ... and everyone know their always room for something ..anything is possible

Btw ... what i mean was their is no clear info about paddles ... the few theories i have read sounded legal.

Ok, back on topic, I don't think Piquet will get anywhere near scoring another podium in Hungary.. unless it rains.

But going straight back off topic, is it worth noting that Nelsinho scored a first podium way earlier in his career than Nelson Piquet Sr. did.

Don't dismiss him just yet.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

Nelsinho is coming  As you say: He won't get anywhere near a podium in Hungary, but maybe it gave him a boost of confidence, so that he can score a point or more at Budapest. I really hope he stays in F1.

But I was thinking this morning.. About Heikki. Maybe McLaren tries to get him to take the victory in Hungary, for the work he has been doing last races. He helped Lewis a bit, and he done well in qualifying last races. But.. The big question is: Is he able to do the job, is he able to win?

No, McLaren will be 100% behind Lewis to get him the biggest lead possible. If he wins the championship before the last race, thats only when the team will help Heikki more. They will want every point going for Lewis

That's how it looks like although Dennis claims otherwise again:

He would say that though. And if McLaren aren't supporting Lewis more, then they're being stupid,as Lewis is leading the WDC and Heikki is nowhere. Supporting Lewis in this situation is the common sense thing to do.

yeah, now Ferrari have the McLaren 07 situation of which driver to support, whereas McLaren can throw it all behind Lewis. But aren't the points low compared to when we were going into Hungary last year?
