Moscow City Racing 2008

Post by artem57 » 15 Jul 2008, 06:59

The event took place in Moscow, nearby the walls of Kremlin. Two drivers were driving F-1 cars: Niko Rosberg and Mikhail Aleshin (who, actually, has never raced in F-1, but I hope he will someday, because with Vitaliy Petrov (who races in GP2) he is one of the most promissing russian drivers  ). Both were driving old cars, Niko - the previous year-s car and Mikhail - even older one, I guess it was from 2005. But nevertheless! Hearing F-1's car engine, reving up in center of Moscow is absolutely stunning!

And here's the reason, why I decided to create this post: I've made some photos there. And even the crowd was mad, and only made photoshooting even more complicated (you know, heads, arms, etc., sticking out everywhere), I think, I've managed to do some solid shots

There were also some other cars, mainly from russian's local championships:

Hope you'll enjoy :)

Thanks for the comments, glad to hear: someone's like my job :)
I use Pentax K20D with Sigma 18-200 mm, the spot was not bad, but I'd definitely like it to be a bit closer and crowdless :)

Thank you :) Usualy I prefer to take pictures in Av-mode, leting system to take care about shutter speed, so it all depends of what depth of sharpness would you like. But, when you're shooting sports events, you'd probably need to be in control of shutter by yourself, as I did in this case. So Tv-mode was my choise at that time, and most of the pictures were taken with 1/250s or 1/350, cause F-1 cars are really fast. It took a while for me, to get used to their speed. :O

I don't know actually  In Russia this series's called "Legends", I heard it came from USA or Canada. Cheep mono-class for not really experienced drivers :)
