youre absolutely right!!,, another reason for night races is the time difference in countries where f1 wants to be seen on tv[/quote]

But with me being in the us i endure late nights and early mornings all season. The "countries where f1 wants to be seen on tv" can put up with a race or two.

I think a night race changes the safety and operational requirements. F1 cars don't have lights so the circuit would have to be super-extra-artificially-lit for visibility (cost: $$$$$). What would happen in a blackout event or rain? Also, the F1 drivers aren't used to drive in the dark, their visibility could be seriously impaired. How about a crazy fan running thru the track?
I know there are pros but I can't think of any now, but if the only pro is the time difference between countries, I don't agree with it.
At the end what matter is if the safety and operational requirements for the race have been fulfill?

This is a strange GP for me, nobody know exactly how does it look, this race not the same race as MotoGP Qatar or any other night races that we have already seen, this is a street circuit not a GP circuit, if there is a rain it will make difficult for the drivers to see the track and maybe could causing a crash or even pile up, so it can be a great and dangerous race, but we'll see what's gonna happen...
(Sorry for my english)

For Bernie all that matters is money ! I think we shud blame the Singapore Motorsports Association for a night race. They should have stood their ground and said no. I believe its a bad precedent, look at which venue is being hammered now. Bernie is pushing for a night race in Melbourne ,to add to this Malaysia have suggested a night race there in 2009. This is only adding more trouble.

If Bernie want's to cap viewership, then he should probably give live telecast on the internet for some fee. I am sure there are many people who would purchase that ...

I feel most if not all teams have included that with in their simulators so the drivers will be ready....one thing about weather is its unpredictable even when the weather casters say it...there have been many cases when they report rain with in the next 5 mins and nothing happens...its somthing different..though not very eviromentally frendly wit all the wattages that will be used for that weekend that money could be put towards somting else...it will be very intresting and the media will do well to hype it up with extensive coverage.

It will be something new to watch. And we will also get to see how the drivers are prepared for this race.Though its a tight circuit we can expect some crashes.Lets wait & see.

A motoGP race was done at night and it went well. I don't think it is a huge problem. After all the people who benefit will be the ones in Europe who get to watch it at a decent time.

I'm Singaporean and am really excited about this race. I don't think the FIA will do anything harmful to driver safety and neither do I think the SMA had any say in whether the race was to be at night or not.

What im worried about is that Bridge, isn't it quite narrow on the track?
Imagine suddenly the track narrowing for it in the dark, be scary
