Re: The future of Super Aguri
It does indeed not look very good at all for them - I can see them folding quite quickly if they don't find some kind of a buyer soon.Which is a shame as towards the end of 2006/beginning of 2007 they were making quite good progress , Sato put a pass on Alonso's McLaren at Montreal but since then the development has dried up a bit...phil1993 wrote:looks very very bleak. it'll be a miracle if they make it past Monaco alive i think- if they wreck a car they're screwed
Re: The future of Super Aguri
Bleak, indeed as Magma just backs out on its buy-out plan of Super Aguri.
Re: The future of Super Aguri
Super Aguri were not allowed to run Honda chassis when they entered so they bought old Arrows. It was old but there was something to build on. From their second season they simply took a year old Honda
Re: The future of Super Aguri
Hope they can drive at least this year.

A German racing executive and banker has ruled himself out of the running to rescue the ailing Super Aguri team.
With the Magma deal off, rumours had circulated that a German concern was willing to step into the breach to buy the Japanese team and save it from imminent collapse.
But Dr Thomas Bscher, also a former driver and motor sport executive, has told the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell that he is in fact not going to save Super Aguri.
He had been spotted as a guest of the Honda-powered team at Bahrain, but Bscher insists: "I have nothing to do with the business of Formula One."
Explaining further, he adds: "I would never engage with a team that races only at the back because I doubt very much that you could make any money that way."
Bscher also said the fact that he was hosted by Super Aguri in Bahrain and not another team is 'pure coincidence'.

Re: The future of Super Aguri
They should last that much longer then.
If they do go out what will happen with qualifying knock-out sessions.

Re: The future of Super Aguri
They won't make Spain or Turkey at the best in my opinion.

The entire Super Aguri team, including all the transporters and the race cars, has been dispatched to the Barcelona circuit, it has emerged.
Despite continuing uncertainty about the financial survival of the Japanese outfit, including the question of whether the team will even race this weekend, frantic activity is still going on behind the scenes - including the preparation of the team's facilities and pits at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport claims that, after the recent withdrawal of the Magma Group's planned Dubai backing, talks with the Leafield operation have been on again.
The outcome is not yet known, but it is clear that Honda - Super Aguri's main hope of staying afloat at least in the coming days - wants written guarantees from an investor before the team is given the green light to even practice in Spain.
The Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell reported that the Super Aguri sale was complicated by the emergence on the market of Dietrich Mateschitz's 50 percent Toro Rosso share.
It also emerges that the team's Managing Director Daniele Audetto is back in the frame at Super Aguri, despite his absence from the races so far this year.
Re: The future of Super Aguri
I don't think they will last much longer, which is a real shame, coz they have many nice guys there.
