Re: 2008 FORMULA 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
I think it will be a boring race
1. Massa
2. Raikkonen
3. Hamilton
4. Kovalainen
5. Kubica
6. Heidfeld
7. Rosberg
8. Alonso
But I think the gap between Macca and Ferrari wil be closer then in Malaysia

2nd practice was quite entertaining again, a lot of mistakes from all the top drivers. Hamilton's accident looked pretty weird, it was very similar to happened to Massa in Malaysia. Busy night for McLaren techs for sure.
Williams is looking pretty good, though it doesn't seem many drivers were doing Q laps. From Ferrari testing sessions, I'd expect top middle-session Q times to go in low 1:30s.

didn't Kovalainen have the exact same accident in testing for Renault 07 ?
Will he get a 5 place penalty? There must have been some damage to the gearbox surely.

Nah, It will be interesting, two times penalty in a row
Re: 2008 FORMULA 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
you can change the gearbox on friday without penalty. you only get a penalty if you change it from saturday morningiceman1 wrote:didn't Kovalainen have the exact same accident in testing for Renault 07 ?

Re: 2008 FORMULA 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
Hmm the teams are smart enough to ensure that they have a stand by car ready for this kind of unforeseen incidents. The rules say that you cannot carry a spare car but it doesn't stop them for carry sufficient spare parts to build a spare car. Moreover the engine rule would also mean that the engines that they run on friday would be different from the ones used on saturday & sunday. The rule states that engine should not be changed during or after saturday or sunday. So in my opinion teams would be running a different engine on friday since its just testing. I don't think Hamilton would get a grid penalty ... Only thing is Mclaren team crew is going to run short of sleep for this weekend.

if the car is damaged to much they can build up a spare chassis to be used , but they can't use a spare car
