McLaren to JUMP rivals from start line!

Post by reyhan » 12 Mar 2008, 15:23

It looks like a rabbit jump start that Mclaren has developed is gonna make a lot more interesting first few corners...

"McLaren have a starting system that allows Hamilton and Kovalainen to pull away with only 9,000 revs. On the other hand, we (BMW) need to use much higher speeds when we begin to accelerate,"
 definitely sounds scary but i believe Ferrari would still have advantage on starts  (optimistic :p )

:nosweat: let's wait and see, a race is won on a full race distance, not just in the first corner. Macca maybe quick off the line, but i still believe that ferrari is quicker albeit slightly  :cheezy: just my opinion though :nosweat:

and besides, manual start is a manual start. it's not 100% effective unlike auto starts. then again....let's just wait and see :cheezy:

I wouldn't be surprised. I was reading race car engineer mag yesterday and they had an article about the new season and in it some people within the F1 scene stipulated that the top teams had found a way to mimic launch control and traction control with the ECU, buried and masked in the code of it, to make it hard for the FIA to find it.

Where there's a will, there's a way.
Applies to F1 aswell, I mean look at Ferrari, they are 2.5 seconds or so faster than last years pole position pace at Bahrain, WITHOUT TC & LC. :nosweat:

No matter what the FIA do, the engineers will find their way around it to make their cars faster. :)

As for burying it deep in the code, no. They will have just altered it within the rules. :tired:

Well, yeah, of course this McLaren ECU doesn't really ensure that the starts would be so much more driver controlled and fair as the McLaren cars have an advantage. How long it will last, I don't know, but it would definitely be a great advantage for McLaren if they could overtake Ferrari's pole position for example. I guess we'll find it out on Sunday.

Well, of course McLaren will have an advantage with the ECU. They haven't had to adapt their systems to it or fit the damn thing to the car, as all the others have. And most team bosses say that they keep studying it or looking for ways to work with it in a more effective way.

Having said that, I do think that by the second half of the season they'll have all adapted to it. F1 teams have some of the best engineers working for them, so...

I just hope the thing is reliable and doesn't give up during the race for anyone. :tired:

FIA can never find that, they use it just once at the start and then the implemented virus can delete it right after :nosweat:
