Yes, it's gone and I'm sorry about that.color wrote:yeah... and Indianapolis is gone...maltafan wrote:Bernie has this philosophy to try and threaten established countries that they can lose their GP, then all of a sudden they agree a new deal.
Silverstone has been under threat for a long time for example, and is still there.
Apart from the 2005 tyre flop, I expected greater interest in F1 from American citizens. Their series are much more at heart and few have shown the same interest in F1.
I would love to see a race in America, maybe at laguna Seca

1. Indianapolis track is (was) always full of F1 fans.maltafan wrote:Yes, it's gone and I'm sorry about that.color wrote:yeah... and Indianapolis is gone...maltafan wrote:Bernie has this philosophy to try and threaten established countries that they can lose their GP, then all of a sudden they agree a new deal.

2. Majority of those fans always were of European roots (Italian, German, Spanish, British, Swedish, Finnish, Polish, etc, etc.). Including myself. We usually don't give a s..t about NASCAR and stuff.
3. Carmakers like Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Toyota all consider USA market THE BIGGEST ONE. Do the math.
4. I would gladly see a F1 GP at Laguna Seca, Las Vegas, NY, or whatever - ALONG WITH ANOTHER GP at Indianpolis. Tradition, I guess...
Re: Bernie - Australia likely to lose GP
Laguna Seca? that would be interesting. it would be damn hard to overtake on that track though..

Re: Bernie - Australia likely to lose GP
Can you overtake in Hungary? or in Monaco?
we'll add another one, but those curves are really intriguing

you know VIR would make a nice place to F1 cars and they are the only motorsport country club in America.

cant they juz add mo races without takin any out ? they could juz slot a gp in any empty weeks rite ? like some races have a 2-3 wk gap between , they could juz slot the extra races in those week
Re: Bernie - Australia likely to lose GP
Yeah, but the teams don't really want any more races as having 20 or so becomes pretty tedious and expensive for them. I'm sure Bernie would have as many races as possible to bring him more dough.
Re: Bernie - Australia likely to lose GP
Russia is a rising economy, and a huge country where F1 has never been before

For Bernie, money does the talking..
Re: Bernie - Australia likely to lose GP
Today I read that Melbourne is now thinking about making the race later in the day, so as to favour European viewers. Bernie wants to avoid the race being at 4am in Europe and they have probably found an equilibrium for 2009 by starting the race 3 hours later, making it at about 7am CET time.
