But Kimi seems to agree with the fact that the new car is a progress from last year, so it's a good sign. The main thing is reliability and again reliability, as this was their main problem last year, so it's good to see that the car resisted in all those long runs.
Every team and driver utter their car is better than the previous year. How could we know that it's the true story? At the begining of 2007, remember what Honda people were saying about their car! I don't believe Massa or Kimi would specify the weakness, if any, of F2008. So, I don't really care neither what they say nor the test results before the season starts in Melbourne.

New Williams FW30 makes track debut

The new Williams FW30The new Williams FW30 was unveiled at the Valencia circuit on Monday before completing an installation lap as fog covered the Spanish circuit.

German test driver Nico Hulkenberg was the man in charge of completing the first run with the new car from the British squad, who will not hold an official launch this year.

Williams could complete just one lap as the circuit was closed due to the thick fog, which made it impossible for drivers to see the track properly.

The Toyota-powered FW30 is expected to continue with its first run as soon as the circuit is opened.

Renault were also hoping to begin testing their new R28 today, but the team had to stay in the garage due to the weather conditions.

the new williams looks great with the huge badman wings on the engine cover, they chose to copy the Mclaren Nose as McLaren themselves change their design. The front &rear wings look like regular Williams items, aside from the bridged element

The way the nose connects to the front wing is quite interesting and the engine cover seems a lot tighter, and the wing mirrors have moved back & the side pods look tiny

Well, it looks like Ferrari remains -- until now -- the only team
with the nose "glued" to the upper wing. All the other teams --
except BMW, who went on with a classic front wing -- chose
this variant with a doubled-wing and it looks like this proved to
be the winner ticket for this year.

R27B and FW29B used last week, at Jerez, a front wing similar
to Ferrari's F2008 wing, but on their 2008 car they switched to
the other variant.

Do you think Ferrari will swallow their pride and face it -- they
were wrong and change a little the design of the car?

Following a thick fog which delayed the start of testing, Alonso finally took to the track around noon and began checking systems in the new car.

Hulkenberg, meanwhile, drove the new Williams FW30, also unveiled today at Valencia.

The German's day, however, was cut short after he went off track, damaging the car's floor, which the team needed to repair before Hulkenberg returned to the track.

Testing at Valencia continues tomorrow, when the rest of the teams will begin their programmes.

Today's times:

Pos Driver Team Time Laps
1. Alonso Renault (B) 1:13.027 39
2. Hulkenberg Williams-Toyota (B) 1:14.559 20
Not impressive times, but then it's not really expected yet. Let's see how the pace is at the end of the week.
