Re: If you had a say in .........
If I could decide I would choose Rosberg, He's a top notch driver, He's got a bit more experience than the others
Re: If you had a say in .........
Ive have just read pretty much the same sort of subject over at ITV ..
In my opinion, any of those three would be crazy to go to mclaren after what went on this season, and I seriously dont think they [macca] would hire someone that could beat hamilton .. I do know it is all over the news this last couple of days - "we're after nico" - "we're after heikki" blah blah blah, who does macca think they are after the goings on's this year, but I do think we'll see good ol' Mark Webber in the 2nd macca seat next year - I do hope so ..

FI & William wont be easily($$$) to give aways their lead drivers
Considering Mclaren still has to pay more than $50 million fine.
Best option for mclaren will be pedro

Interesting GP.com article

Of the people who are rumoured to be in line for the drive all are under contract elsewhere: Heikki Kovalainen at Renault, Adrian Sutil at Force India and Nico Rosberg at Williams. Kovalainen has been inconsistent this year but has beaten Fisichella. He is the same age as Liuzzi but has less F1 experience but he would need to buy himself out of his contract. Adrian Sutil is younger (by 18 months), has not really done enough this year, particularly when compared to Sakon Yamamoto, and is contracted. Williams says that it is not going to sell Rosberg's contract, no matter how much money is on offer.
There are also questions about the term of any contract that might be on offer. McLaren might take a risk and do a one-year deal with a veteran such as Fisichella which would allow the team to negotiate with a driver who will be free in 2009. Rosberg is the name mentioned more than anyone else in this respect but he may not be able to get out of his Williams deal until 2010 as there are believed to be performance clauses that would keep him there if the team does well enough in 2008.
Re: If you had a say in .........
I think Kovalainen has a contract with Briatore's management, not with Renault. His current Renault contract ends this year. But it basically means that Briatore decides where Kovalainen will drive and so on. :?
Re: If you had a say in .........
ALonso was like that, but that doesn't mean than Alonso went to McLaren, only is Briatore accepted.AzShadow wrote:I think Kovalainen has a contract with Briatore's management, not with Renault. I would say: Sutil, former Hamilton-teammate, and a good rookie doing a great job in the Spyker, and beating Albers nearly every race. :T:@

So maybe with the recent speculation we have all been talking about the wrong guys?"Of course, we have a list with a few names on it, but there aren't many," said Haug. "Certain drivers, of whom there are many rumours at the moment, do not appear on that list.
However, it could be that there is someone whose name has not yet been mentioned."
