Re: F1 2008 -updated-
Yesterday I heard that he might join Spyker, who will have the name of Force India.donald29 wrote:ralf back to williams?
After retiring as a driver, he might still be employed by the same team, doing some technical or administration stuff.

Re: F1 2008 -updated-
Nelson Piquet (the father) was interviewed by Italian Tv and he said that his son, might be effected form Alonso's situation.
For those who read between the lines, it looked like Alonso is going to be back to Renault

Re: F1 2008 -updated-
i think so to and i think Sato will go toyota and Ralf might not have a team to go to if he doesn't look for one.
Re: F1 2008 -updated-
Think he was on GP2 (no TC) last year. A lot of f1 drivers are driven TC cars for more time.martinez wrote:hamilton likes to drive aggresively, with traction control docked, CAN he?
Maybe GP2 drivers can drive better.

The interesting part is that many drivers have contracts with their teams but they still might be bought to different teams or canceled so it's hard to tell who will drive where.iceman1 wrote: For the question mark seats

Kovalainen and Piquet have contracts with Renault or Briatore's management team but it doesn't necessarily mean that they would drive in the F1 team, as a race driver at least.
What I've heard from Williams' comments, Nico will definitely drive in Williams in 2008 since the whole team seems to rely on him. Who will be the second driver, that's still a mystery.
Trulli also has a contract but rumors say that he might leave anyway. I doubt that he'll leave since Trulli has performed so well and it's not good to change both of the drivers at the same time. Timo Glock will most likely replace Ralf.
Force India also has some contracts from the Spyker drivers but in that team everything can change quickly. I think Sutil might retain his seat since Kolles appreciates him a lot, but the other seat is totally up for grabs.
McLaren's situation is interesting. I can't honestly believe that Alonso would go anywhere else than McLaren or Renault. He has a 3-year-contract with McLaren though and leaving too soon would cause a lot of sponsor problems for McLaren etc. so they will probably try to work out the situation somehow, even though the atmosphere is what it is.

Looking Towards 2008...
Some changes next year with the removal of TC, but the biggest concern i see is the ease for Mclaren to adjust to the non TC era of 2008 seeing as it is their EMC that everyone has to use and the fact that BMW is way ahead in the development race. It is no coincidence that Williams was fighting with BMW towards the end of the season, this was simply due to BMW shifting all their development work to the 2008 program. Something which Ferrari and McLaren did not have the luxury to do.
Next year i believe we will see BMW, Kimi and Lewis fighting for the championship. Although i rate Massa i dont expect him to keep up with Kimi next year for a number of reasons. Mainly this year should have been the one where Massa asserted himself, he knew the team, the car, the tyres, the language. He had the advantage but once Kimi had settled it was largely game over for Massa. Next year Kimi will be even better, and i believe he will do better without TC when compared to Massa.
Alonso will not be at McLaren, and Renault i dont believe will have a great package next year. It will take them another season to bounce back to 2006 form. Thus Lewis is the other contender, he should do well without TC and i expect Lewis and Kimi to be fighting for it again at the end of 2008.
I know many people believe it is too early to speak about 2008, but with 140 odd days till Melbourne what else is there to do???

In an interview with ITV, Kovalainen admitted that McLaren might be interested in him for 2008, but jokingly rued his poor qualifying performance at the season finale last Sunday.
"They probably would have thought 'maybe better not to think about him'," he said.
