Seems like Ferrari was testing the 2008 ECU.

It didn't end so well, though......

Glock fastest on day one at Jerez

Timo Glock kicked off the final official test of the season in Jerez in Spain on Tuesday with the quickest time for BMW Sauber.

The German completed 71 laps to set a best time of 1:20.606 as teams tried out various different set-ups for the forthcoming Japanese and Chinese Grands Prix.

Vitantonio Liuzzi was second fastest, six tenths slower than Glock, in his Toro Rosso with Sebastien Buemi third quickest for Red Bull Racing.

Franck Montagny tried out new developments in the Toyota to set the fourth quickest time, while Pedro de la Rosa completed just 46 laps for McLaren to end the day fifth overall.

Renault are giving Nelson Piquet Jr the chance to run on all three days of the test. The Brazilian was sixth fastest, despite losing some time with a mechanical problem in the afternoon.

Rubens Barrichello was seventh overall after a day spent trying out various new concepts that his Honda Racing team will use for the final three races of the season.

Kazuki Nakajima put in valuable mileage for Williams on their new Fuji-upgrade, while Luca Badoer was at the bottom of the timesheet for Ferrari as they tried out their 2008 electronic systems. The Italian brought out the only red flag of the day as he stopped on track at 3.40pm.
I think kimi will not attend the test due to his neck problem.

McLaren Mercedes test driver Pedro de la Rosa set the pace on the second day of running at Jerez. The Spaniard, working on setup for the forthcoming Japanese Grand Prix, recorded a best lap of 1:19.267s, seven-tenths clear of the field and some 1.4 seconds faster than Timo Glock's best recorded on Tuesday.

Mark Webber took over from Sebastian Buemi today and set the second fastest time in his Red Bull Renault, while Luca Badoer posted the third fastest time in his Ferrari. Yesterday Badoer had worked on the 2008 electronics programme, and today he focused on the race in Fuji.

Nick Heidfeld set the fourth fastest time for BMW Sauber as he took over testing duties from Timo Glock. Heidfeld's best was three-tenths up on Glock's best from yesterday.

Tonio Liuzzi was fifth fastest for Toro Rosso Ferrari with team-mate Sebastian Vettel getting a short run as well. Jenson Button was sixth fastest in the revised Honda RA107 ahead of Nelson Piquet, who put in the most laps of the day, in his Renault.

Ralf Schumacher was eighth fastest as the Toyota team gear up for their big race of the season at their own Fuji circuit, while Nico Rosberg was ninth fastest in the similarly-powered Williams.

Testing continues Thursday.

Thanks Suntrek For the Updates
when McLaren run an unpainted part, you can bet it is new. All four elements of the front wing are in bare carbon fibre.

As always, the best times in Jerez are set in the morning.

Final times

1. de la Rosa McLaren-Mercedes 1:19.617 68
2. Badoer Ferrari 1:19.656 68
3. Webber Red Bull-Renault 1:20.067 42
4. Heidfeld BMW-Sauber 1:20.184 94
5. Piquet Renault 1:20.655 120
6. Button Honda 1:20.831 66
7. Trulli Toyota 1:21.621 77
8. Vettel Toro Rosso-Ferrari 1:21.626 82
9. Rossiter Honda 1:21.663 39
10. Rosberg Williams-Toyota 1:22.148 57

All in all it looks good for McLaren, but Badoer isn't the fastest test driver in the world, so I don't take anything for granted. ''hmm''
