73 consecutive races now without a mechanical failure for Alonso.
Nico Rosberg only needs one more win to equal his father’s tally.
Rosberg’s win was the 100th for a Mercedes-powered car in Formula One and Hamilton’s pole was the 100th for Mercedes power as well.
Pending the appeal, the disqualification of Ricciardo, will give Button his 50th podium.
Daniil Kvyat finished tenth and was promoted to ninth behind team mate Jean-Eric Vergne. By doing so he became the youngest ever F1 point-scorer, 25 days younger than previous holder, Sebastian Vettel. Previous holders of that title are Perez, Massa, Amon, Nico Rosberg, Buemi, Button, and Algesuari.

If Red Bull have solved their engine woes, they should go very well around this track. However, the straights are long, so will superior aerodynamics make up for a deficit in engine power over one lap? Fuel economy may also turn out to be a talking point once again.

I don't expect great racing, but maybe a clearer picture of the pecking order and things to look forward to.

I think that is exactly 73 (I counted 75 but w/e) races ago.

Technically speaking Alonso had a mechanical failure during last year's Bahrain GP, but the issues with the DRS didn't stop him from finishing the race.

Some of the run-off areas/kerbs have been changed, though only minor tweaks.

In other news, Vettel wins best sportsman of the year in the Laureus Awards, which is apparently a big thing. Nevertheless, he deserves it, and it makes me feel happy that F1 drivers are being recognised for their achievements :

Alonso is ready to help Kimi to fix his problems: "I do not know what his problem is exactly. But I'll help as best I can, but I also have enough to do"

:p
