Funniest thing is, Alonso's twitter showed him doing simulator work during the season last year

Re: 2014 Formula One Discussion
Renault will probably ask for 'reliability upgrades'. Hope they get rebuffed after their previous 'reliability upgrades' weren't even to do with reliability.

Re: 2014 Formula One Discussion
They should just allow open development all year and only homologate for 2015. A brand new engine formula needs longer than 3 months development time.

3 months? These engines have been in development and running for over a year now.
Re: 2014 Formula One Discussion
Engines have been in development since 2011 I believe, because they were suppose to be introduced for 2013, but it was pushed back to 2014; this season at the request of the teams.

Re: 2014 Formula One Discussion
Yes, design and initial development work began in mid-2011 I think, but this is the first time that all the manufacturers are running them in cars on a track. Dyno testing, as Renault are finding out, is quite different than real-world running. Hell, the W-12 in the Life L190 probably was fairly reliable on the dyno... lol

But this is not 3 months development as you originally suggested.Ferrariman60 wrote:Yes, design and initial development work began in mid-2011 I think, but this is the first time that all the manufacturers are running them in cars on a track. Dyno testing may not be like for like with on track testing, but these engine manufacturers have masses of data about car behaviours, stresses, etc... that they use and factor in to the build, testing and inhouse development of the power units prior to putting them into a car.

I read that last night. A good article and as a Manor fan I agree with the points you raise, including that of Chilton.
Re: 2014 Formula One Discussion
Thanks.
Today's feature - yeah, planned that well - is on Force India's bright prospects this year

How has bernie won his court case when the Judge says it was a corrupt deal with bribery???
Re: 2014 Formula One Discussion
There are two separate court cases. The one that was concluded today was in respect of a media company that was seeking damages from the sale of F1. The judge concluded that they did not suffer any losses so were not due any damages. That is all. The judge in this case however made it clear that Bernie made a corrupt payment to the banker to drive down the value of F1 so that Bernie could sell to a preferred bidder. But that conclusion made no difference to the complaint at hand.mikhailv wrote:How has bernie won his court case when the Judge says it was a corrupt deal with bribery???
The second case is still ongoing, where Bernie faces a criminal prosecution in Germany (for making a suspected corrupt payment to a banker in the sale of F1).
