Its a shame really for Hulk that he has to contend with racing in the midfield for another year. It's unfortunate because all the top teams, apart from Lotus which went for cash against talent, had a preset agenda for whom they were going to pick for next year.

Red Bull had to make use of their development program and Ricciardo gave them a reason to do so by his mid-season performances. Ferrari wanted to go gungho next year, and when Kimi is in the market you just don't say no. McLaren were already planning Magnussen's F1 entry at the condition of securing Perez a drive at another team, and Mercedes plan to build on their formidable lineup of Nico and Lewis to unleash its potential with next year's Mercedes power unit.

So he's quite unlucky this year, Hulkenberg, but I reckon in 2015 he'll be racing in one of the top teams if he keeps his act up.

I reckon they're either still finalising the Perez deal or they just want to stagger the announcements - ie, retaining a driver isn't really news - if they were retaining a driver, they'd announce it at the same time as the new driver (like Lotus did with Grosjean and Williams with Bottas).

Announcing a deal with a new driver at a later date (Perez) means they get more exposure

That's good news. Finally some talent making it through. If Ricciardo fails to deliver he'll be ready to pounce.

What a waste. Good-bye to the F1 career of Da Costa.

@f1enigma: Sport365.fr reports that @maxchilton father is no longer at AON and that the company decided to stop motorsport sponsorship.

That's correct, but Chilton's father has created a new company so perhaps the finance will come from that venture.

If not, maybe Nasr?

The rumour today is that Force India is trying to get rid of Sutil (who supposedly has a 2014 contract, rings true after his comments) and this is why Perez has not yet been announced.

Di Resta and Sutil gone for Hulk/Perez

Sauber take Sutil. Di Resta to just disappear seeing as Tony Kanaan has taken Franchitti's seat on Dario's request.

Its his only option I reckon, though im sure the field in DTM is quite tight at the moment? Unless Mercedes make room.

Perhaps he is a potential to replace McNish at Audi? Even though Di Resta's intention is to stay in F1, there are only seats left at Sauber, Caterham and Marussia. I cannot see him fitting in with any of those.

He could indirectly replace him, because I should imagine that Di Grassi will replace McNish (or another LMP1 Audi driver, I can't recall their entire line-up).
