Silly season 2013-14
Re: Silly season 2013-14
I feel old now.
Let me win or I shoot you?

Should have been Da Costa
Kvyat is good but I hope he's not out of his depth.
Problem is there's so many talented drivers!

Re: Silly season 2013-14
He will be though. Not because he isn't good, but because he's too young and Marko is once again throwing a driver in at the deep end expecting another Vettel. da Costa has those extra couple of seasons to be ready, but oh no Marko knows better after all his stunning success with Toro Rosso drivers.
Tbh, if they were insistent on this signing I'd have rather seen Verge replaced by da Costa as harsh as that would be on Vergne given his misfortune with unreliability this season.
Me too iceman. Not had a driver race in F1 whilst younger than me yet. Next year there'll be one born in 1994 and one in 1995!

Meh, I wish I could be excited about Toro Rosso's signings. When the car doesn't break down, it is basically nowhere. Are they even trying?
Re: Silly season 2013-14
Da Costa will be better because of the 2013 problems. He hasn't suddenly lost talent: he still won three races to Magnussen's five - he also had some terrible luck and the team let him down hugely.
I really don't get it... although Red Bull will sell more drinks in Russia than Portugal.
It also means that Red Bull rate Vergne. Few drivers get a third season, especially if they miss out on the Red Bull seat. There's no reason to suggest that they need him as a yardstick or else they'd have retained one of Buemi or Alguersuari for 2012.
I'd have loved a line up of Kvyat/da Costa.
Sainz a shoe-in for 2015 now.

Re: Silly season 2013-14
Unbelievable. Thank you RB to screw the opportunity to have one Portuguese driver in the grid just for money.
Re: Silly season 2013-14
A big surprise that they have announced Kvyat. But looking into the scenario that Russia has a very big market & with loads of money to invest teams will be lured to take Russian Drivers. In the end money talks

Tell you what, I love Will Buxtons tweet;
''First reaction? Yet another Red bulls** decision that defies any kind of logic and leaves another huge talent on the waste dump.''

Will's an emotionally driven person (judging by Twitter) but he has a point. If this goes wrong, they've hindered Kvyat and da Costa.
Anyway, Marko speaks

Re: Silly season 2013-14
Rumours are its to do with two things; Russian money for the Russian GP which is quite funny seeing as not only do we now have 2 Russians with petrov possibly bringing a good wad of millions, but also Red Bull is the 3rd biggest soft drinks company behind Pepsi and Coke; but there are current lobbying for a law inwhich means that Red Bull cannot be sold to young adults and kids/teens.
Just another bunch of RB Academy drivers they will eventually take a dump on.

Here's the thing though, a Red Bull seat might not be seen as the ultimate prize for much longer.
Their dominance could realistically end this year and they could slip back to third or fourth best next season. From here, the only way is down. Winning over 50% of the races and taking title after title... nothing else will be good enough. Red Bull exists to sell cans so as soon as their reputation in F1 slips, they'll bail out and sell the team.
The ironic thing could be that for as long as Red Bull searched for the ultimate successor to Vettel, they were doing completely fine with Webber!

Re: Silly season 2013-14
Webber didnt need to be replaced. IMO he wouldve been mighty next year based around the car.

Well at the very least it gives Max Chilton some competition in 2014.iceman1 wrote:
