Yea but it would still look different. I mean India, China, and Korea will all look the same if you don't know the track layout. NJ will look different and be reminiscent of F1 in Phoenix and Detroit in the 1980s and 1990s.Joey Zyla wrote:Tilke designed the New Jersey circuit if I'm not mistaken.tderias wrote:I'd love NJ to be on the calendar. It would be a welcome change from all the huge, empty tilkedromes like India and Korea.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
The problem I have with a race in New Jersey is the fact that the United States already has great circuits in areas where more people would probably go to the race. Road America, Long Beach, and several others yet Bernie decides to make a new track in Texas of all places, and now possibly New Jersey.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I like the Korea track. Too bad the whole concept of f1 and Korea has been pretty weird. Guess Psy needs to get another hit soon :s
Think the NJ street race would be good for F1, bad for watching it. Sort of like Monaco (the differences would make some nice jokes, but i'll refrain ;)
Hungary... (the track) to me has no soul, no flow. I wouldnt mind scraping it for A1 or even Magny Cours.

Hungaroring's not made for good racing, sadly. But I think it does have some soul in those twisty turns. It's been part of the calendar for over 25 years now, plus it's a European race, so I'm starting to wish it'll keep staying on the calendar.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I obviously don't want fewer european races. If hungaroring goes, it better be for another classic track. Not some BS publicity exercise...
As for the track itself... eh well, it's really tough and a challenging track... i dont really like it because it falls short of anything spectacular. But prefer it 10x over a street circuit.

I love the Hungaroring, I'd be sad to see it leave. I think it's one of the best F1 circuits, there's really nothing else quite like it. You can compare it to Monaco, but Monaco doesn't really have anything quite like the amazing twisty section from the the turn six chicane down to turn ten.

I wrote a book about a behind-the-scenes experience of an F1 paddock, it's fairly cheap and any profits will go into covering Spa/Monza for the site

Interesting tweets from Adam Cooper.
'My colleague Mark Hughes says Michelin could soon announce its interest in landing the 2014 F1 deal. Would make sense'
'Todt is close to Michelin but problem is Bernie is even closer to Pirelli and F1 Group earns huge $$$ from them. Will Michelin match that?'

#Pirelli
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
It's just a power struggle between Todt and Bernie...
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
It's ok, they're settling it with an arm wrestle.

This is the only time in my life I've wanted Bernie to win anything.donald29 wrote:It's ok, they're settling it with an arm wrestle.

Michelin all the way.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I love the irony of Todt being close to Michelin, given he was Ferrari team principal at Indy 05.
