It's still not 2014, who knows!
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Moody tweeted the rumour because it was said over the tannoy at Silverstone.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Fun game time - do you reckon Lewis Hamilton will score more points than McLaren combined in 2013?
Lewis currently has 40, McLaren has 12. Mercedes has probably the 2nd best qualifying car and 3rd/4th best in race pace. McLaren probably 5th in both...

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
No, im actually expecting mercedes to fall back mid season. I dont think lewis will outscore both cars.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I agree to an extent, but I have a belief that Mercedes have sorted it. Brawn said at the end of 2011 that 2013 would be when the changes would be felt. McLaren will progress though.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Mercedes do slip back and Hamilton ends up contending for 6th or 7th. Personally, I've so far been impressed by Hamilton's approach with Mercedes but they've yet to encounter problems.

In my opinion Mercedes will be pushed further because now have a good base to work on.The problem is how much faster have to work from other teams to reduces the gap.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
i think lotus will fall back most.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Actually he has been very good since last year's season.. 2007-2011 he still had the same problem, agitation and aggression. That's purely racers heart, but actually not the best approach in history. After watching his ex teammate, Alonso, showing consistent WDC contender for many years even with slower car, he then realize that he should have had more chance to be better than Alonso with his faster Mclaren car! Then 2012 he changed a lot! in mentality, consistency, calmness, no pressure at all.. And in that moment actually Hamilton is in the best shape! 2012 he did very well, Mclaren screwed him. This year, he is still the same as he was in 2012! I hope he continues like this, and he will be on par with Alonso! He is in the best shape now..phil1993 wrote:I agree to an extent, but I have a belief that Mercedes have sorted it. Brawn said at the end of 2011 that 2013 would be when the changes would be felt. This year in Mercedes, he is still in learning phase! Remember how many times he mentions about new car, different settings? especially in braking area? I remember he once mentioned about brake bias set up which is much more (probably 7?) than the one on his Mclaren car (only 3). So he seems still learning a lot on those area, and that can be a conclusion that he is still not 100% comfortable with the car. But yet, he still showing decent result! quite consistently... He shows very few mistake of him, which is very good! I see a new born of "alonso" on his new season in Ferrari. Pretty much maturity development on him. It's good to see he left Mclaren though.. This is what I thought of him.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
The real test will be if the Mercedes goes south. The MP4-24; lewis didnt handle things well at the start of the season at all, but he is a different driver now.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I think Lewis dealt with losing 3 wins in 2012 pretty well.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Brundle says McLaren should have signed Hulkenberg instead of Perez, young Mexican is under pressure from everybody, last season he finished on podium 3 times, in Malaysia the conditions helped him to finish second, in Canada the strategic mistakes of RedBull and Ferrari gave him a chance, and in Italy it was his bad result on saturday, and in the rest of the season he was just an average driver...

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
And now everybody just realize then that Perez is just one of ordinary driver...
His podiums in 2012 simply luck and situational.. I won't count those podiums. I would prefer counting Kobayashi 1 and only podium in Japan. It was worth to count. Even just 1.

To be honest I think he gave up on Mclaren. They cost him over 100 points that season.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Perez remindes me of Kovalainen, McLaren picked both of them very early in their careers and both of them were underperforming in comparison to their team mates, but i think Perez is under more pressure, Button is a much more charismatic driver in comparison to Lewis Hamilton in 2008,McLaren Mp4-23 was a better car than MP4-28 and i don't remember anyone criticizing McLaren for signing Kovalainen just after 3 races, i think we should give him more time, even if he is just an ordinary driver.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I think people are very hard with Perez, its only 3 races in the season and the mclaren has dog car, perez get the new parts on saturday with only one sesion to test and setup the car with them, gets the plan B in the strategic part of the pits stops in china around lap 22 has a lot tyres issues but mclaren choose to stop first button, and leave another lap with no pace at all, and then they put the softs in first pit stop instead of the hards like everybody else.
