2013 Formula One Discussion
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
In return for what? Cheaper 2014 engines at Marussia?
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Who knows at this time Phil. You're asking for more detail than has been offered.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
There's definitely something up at Marussia though. I hear Chilton is testing again tomorrow...
They're the only team without guarantee of a 2014 engine, because it doesn't look like Cosworth is making one.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Correct, but they're also trying to strengthen their ties with McLaren... which may mean them taking Force India's supply of Mercedes engines (as part of their technical agreement) when that team switches to Ferrari in 2014.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Yes, good point. The engine situation is obviously what is holding up any announcement.
I do wonder if we'll get another engine supplier in 2014, because at this rate I believe Renault will be supplying 5 teams, Mercedes 4 and Ferrari 2.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Having done this, I can't believe Red Bull would then try and justify it. 'Red Bull argued that the VIP description was accurate since the Grand Prix was "one of the most prestigious races on the F1 calendar".' WTF? And having to leave before the end to catch their flight!
Another team should give these people proper VIP treatment for this year's Belgian Grand Prix, would be great PR!

I'd like Bianchi to Marussia, just so we have the situation where a team is on their third driver for a seat before the first race.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I don't think we'll see any additional engine suppliers for a couple of years. Which is sad really. In a perfect world there should be 5 or 6 engine suppliers for the number of teams. But then in a perfect world there should be a full grid of 26 cars.phil1993 wrote:because at this rate I believe Renault will be supplying 5 teams, Mercedes 4 and Ferrari 2.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Sutil will still beat Di Resta, tbh.
Human at Sight,
Monster at Heart!
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Still beat? That implies that Sutil was better in 2011. That I don't remember.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
He was better than Di Resta. Sutil improved a lot in the second half of the season.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
It was very even in qualifying and considering di Resta's inexperience, it was very even in the races as well.Edi96 wrote:He was better than Di Resta. Sutil improved a lot in the second half of the season.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Sutil had many years experience, whereas Di Resta was a rookie. Being literal, yes Sutil scored more points but it is as Phil said... they were very even. Di Resta was someone highly regarded in the paddock throughout 2011 for the performances he put in, both in comparison to his team mate and his lack of experience.Edi96 wrote:He was better than Di Resta. I wouldn't say that Sutil beat Di Resta in 2011.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Sutil - di Resta 42:27. Both drivers had 2 DNF's. You can argue that di Resta was a rookie and did well but in the end Sutil did beat him. That's a fact.

Have a look in the magazine thread on the AUTOSPORT forum, the majority owner of the publisher has been in porn.phil1993 wrote: Also, there's yet another magazine?

It's a fact, yes. But at the end of 2011, Force India chose to keep Di Resta over Sutil.Edi96 wrote:Sutil - di Resta 42:27. Both drivers had 2 DNF's. You can argue that di Resta was a rookie and did well but in the end Sutil did beat him. That's a fact.
Button came within 3 points of being statistically better than Hamilton last year yet few would agree with those statistics.
