It's the same with Spain + Alonso. Germany's numbers are dwindling post-Schumacher, even with Vettel's presence. It's because the numbers shot up with Schumacher and are currently being just about sustained. Italy saw a drop when Ferrari had a bad year in 2009 I believe.

There's some countries where I think there'll always be a lot of F1 fans going to races. Every country with a driver will see an increase, some more than others. While other nations are dependant on a driver.
Look at Japan with Sato and then Kobayashi. Heroic fellowship they had, with a hero status.

Thats the thing, having a home country driver with talent and competativeness, certainly rakes the crowd in. If there was just Chilton on the grid, interest would be very low, and calls for investment into motorsport would be on every forum after the heritage of F1.

I do wonder about France. Prost was the last big Frenchman who bowed out in 93 didnt he? The only time from then where France were truly interested was with Renault.

Thats not Romain! Image

Thats interesting! Oh, skyf1 Ted Kravitz; Apparently, the slits in the rear wing of the Ferrari were last seen on..... a Minardi. just the same as the Pullrod suspension in 2001.

I also remember reading that Alonso suggested giving an angle to the radiator or something from his days at renault?

Actually it's a gearbox problem. I read Ferrari are using a small gearbox this season.

Raikkonen fastest as test concludes
http://www.f1zone.net/news/raikkonen-fa ... des/17719/

On a personal note, I found it staggering the amount of running that was done. Well over 100 laps by several drivers.

The failures I can think of were two for Mercedes, two for McLaren, one for Ferrari, one for Lotus, one for STR, one for Caterham and two for Marussia.

That's pretty impressive.

Times also very close and, unsurprisingly, seem to be quicker than last year and closer together - although the best time of the week was slower than in 2012.
