2013 Formula One Discussion
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I think both teams realised paying a driver in 2013 is futile. 2014 is what matters.

Someone let the figures out

I do agree there from the teams sense. Take pay drivers on for this year, pocket the money for 2014.

That promo pic looks nice, not sure if thats the way to go aerodynamically...
Glad to see Pirelli realising the silver tyre wall was a failed experiment...

Pirelli is also targeting 2-3 stops with the compounds for next yr....

Yeah, to leave room for both Massa and Pedro.phil1993 wrote:Fernando is not driving at the first test in Jerez.
Honestly, even if he's a "journeymen", I trust more Pedro than Alonso for car feedback, so maybe it's an incredibly well thought move.

Video of Kubica's DTM test
That hand...doesn't look good. I hope he gets back to F1 though

I hope they do that, the first part of 2012 was incredible when everybody had to make several stops, but in the final races it was just like 2010 when everybody was stopping just once, let's hope for races with 3 stops!F1EA wrote:Pirelli is also targeting 2-3 stops with the compounds for next yr....
A craven can be as brave as any man, when there is nothing to fear. And we all do our duty, when there is no cost to it. How easy it seems then, to walk the path of honor.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I'd like Pirelli to go for really hard tyres occasionally. Austin was a fantastic race!
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Kubica's not gonna be back, ever. With how his arm is in that video, he'd never have any form of mobility in the cockpit, he's still limping as well isn't he? Also, the G-force in an F1 car, if he had an incident, he could seriously injure that hand against.
I hope he has a successful career in DTm and WRC though.

I dont think the F2013 is going to be much use in Jerez in the sense of advancing the car forward. That will come in the 2nd test. The first will be the acclimatise the car to track, check correlation with the Toyota tunnel, get Pedro a deep understanding of the car to work with so he can develop the simulator, and to get Massa the best start possible on the baseline.Adam wrote:Yeah, to leave room for both Massa and Pedro.phil1993 wrote:Fernando is not driving at the first test in Jerez.

The 2nd and 3rd tests will be pushing the car forward and development which Alonso will want the say in. Massa will get one day more testing than Alonso, but Alonso is getting 2/3 out of 4 days in the two following tests.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
I think it's a clever move. It also gives Alonso another two weeks of training - he did look exhausted after 2012.
Politically, 2013 is going to be huge. I think politics will be a key feature of 2013, something we haven't really had since 2009. No Concorde Agreement, new 2014 regulations, financial problems, calendar issues...
