Getting rid of Brawn would be a monumentally bad decision.

He gets to Mercedes, and Brawn is possibly replaced by Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe, a senior figure at McLaren the team Lewis was leaving to try something new!
It's pretty obvious now that they got rid of Schumacher :p

Problem is, i dont think theres much faith in Paddy Lowe with Lewis. So leaving mclaren for a start with one of the greatest strategists and technical directors ever to grace Formula 1, only to find its going to have some major reshuffling? Oh dear. 2014 a return 'home' or will Ferrari take the risk and offer Lewis?

Put it this way, would Lewis have signed for Mercedes if he knew Toto Wolff would be team principal not Ross Brawn?

Well Lauda was the one who convinced him to sign for Mercedes. Lewis signed to race for Mercedes and not Brawn.

We haven't seen yet what Toto is able to do or achieve. Brawn's philosophy didn't work for Mercedes, maybe things can change under the new management. Who knows?

Brawns philosophy IMO wasn't allowed to work. The problem is, and correct me if im wrong, The base of the car was still an evolution from the BGP01 right? It was basically the same car in 2010 in many aspects, then we had the raised noses and exhausts changes but in effect its still on the basis of a 2007 Honda F1 car.

Put that ontop of Mercedes not having a huge budget, ontop of, and to be frank, having Rosberg who isnt bad but nothing to rave about, and an out of form Schumacher, just didnt do anything justice. Schumacher just wasnt his old self and anybody who expected him to be is a lunatic. Rosberg bottles it quite often, I can only think of China/monaco 2012 and Korea 2010 where rosberg truly had a great podium performance. I believe he has lacked the rest of his performances. Schumacher wasnt that good in 2010 but thats more than fair, 2011 the car was c**p but I cant help but think a Hamilton or Alonso would drag that places it shouldnt, which Rosberg doesnt have that quality, and Schumacher isnt the genius behind the wheel he formerly was. 2012, I believe Schumacher had so much bad luck, that car couldve done more than the single win and 6 podiums in 3 years. Not a fan, but poor schumacher last year, 7 DNF's.....

But it wouldnt surprise me if Brawns way was Mercedes' way, not what he wouldve wanted. i mean, id never have gotten rid of Norbert Haug for a start. Theres a reason these guys have had so much success in their careers.

That's my point. Nothing against Wolff, it's just he's an unknown quantity and I don't know how keen Lewis would be to race under such an unknown.

With all the aquisitions Mercedes made in recent times, I have to ask myself, is their budget still significantly lower (as it is said to be) than that of Red Bull/McLaren/Ferrari? Has anyone got any reliable numbers from the 2012 season?

Looks messy to me, it's been overdone. Much prefer how it was previously, that looked nice.
