Perez replied to him on Twitter "The money you can buy a seat but never the results! Say x those who still doubt!"Di Resta wrote:“I’m manly enough to stand up and say that for whatever reason the board took decisions not to put me in the car. Our paths may cross. It may be in a car that’s beating them and I’ll have the last laugh. But if I’ve got to work with them, they’re professional people and they win races, and that’s what I’m in the sport to do. Unfortunately in this sport now there’s a little bit more to it. There’s a commercial side and money’s tight. Perez has some good backing”.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Ferrari's new team-wear, or the jackets at least, is basically a big Marlboro packet.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
So I hope Massa smokes Alonso this season!
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
De La Rosa has joined Ferrari as a development driver.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Five years ago de la Rosa and Alonso were exchanging e-mails at McLaren regarding Ferrari data.
Now they're both driving for Ferrari. How times change!

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Some Ferrari news, aside from the De La Rosa announcement
- 2013/14 design split teams will change numbers depending on how the season progresses
- They've hired a lot of new people for the aerodynamic department
- They want to increase the amount of testing allowed
- 2013 car will be developed fully in Toyota's facility in Cologne. Ferrari's new windtunnel opening in the Summer.
- Smedley stays as Massa's race engineer
- Not aiming to recruit Vettel alongside Alonso
- Still trying to get Bianchi into F1

Maybe they're going to start sharing HRT's secretsdonald29 wrote:Five years ago de la Rosa and Alonso were exchanging e-mails at McLaren regarding Ferrari data.

You're right, wouldn't have thought of that!donald29 wrote:Five years ago de la Rosa and Alonso were exchanging e-mails at McLaren regarding Ferrari data.

This "move" brings me to another thing, though. Based on which criteria are test/development drivers actually hired? Sure, there's little to no track testing done anymore, but one could think that drivers with a good technical knowledge are preferred since they have to work on the setup of the car. However, the only (ex-)test driver that I actually know to be good at technical stuff is Alex Wurz.
Now, what about the likes of Gené, Badoer and De La Rosa? Obviously an F1 test driver doesn't necessarily have to be superquick, yet back then were e.g. Gene and Badoer hired by Ferrari for their above-average technical knowledge or "just" for pounding the car round the circuit over and over again, back when excessive testing was still allowed? Hope someone can shed light on this.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Thing is, De la Rosa has extensive Mclaren testing knowledge, he used simiulators to help with Mclaren. This is totally valuable for Ferrari. Theyve not got a simulator specialist.
I heard that Mclaren and Williams were very interested in Pedro too, but also remember the fact that Pedro has worked very closely with Alonso (not the first time with ferrari data XD), but he has also worked closely with Pat Fry and no doubt the numerous Mclaren engineers and Aerodynamacists who have joined Ferrari.

Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Mark Webber will have a new race engineer this season - Simon Rennie moves from Lotus to Red Bull. Former race engineer Ciaron Pilbeam moves in the opposite direction.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
Interesting. This is going to sound odd, it's probably the strangest thing I've said about F1, but I really like Ciaron Pilbeam's voice. Will be a shame not hearing it on the radio any more.
Re: 2013 Formula One Discussion
He's going to be Lotus's chief race engineer, which I think means he'll be on the Lotus pit wall, but not directly talking to Kimi or Romain.
Personally, Andy Latham has the smoothest voice. He could read bedtime stories.

Discussing engineer's voices, hurry up testing.
