F1 2012 Driver Rankings
F1 2012 Driver Rankings
They're back!
Here is Part One...
http://www.f1zone.net/news/2012-driver- ... one/17093/
Even though it's got my name on it - because I wrote it - the staff here have all agreed (roughly) on the order.
Part Two will come next week. Ie, when I've written it.

Re: F1 2012 Driver Rankings
Really difficult task, but good job. It's a nice read as well.
I guess one can consider pt.1 a flashbang... but make sure you have a bulletproof vest once pt.2 comes out hehehe

Re: F1 2012 Driver Rankings
It's time to start some sort of discussion about this ranking. In my opinion Maldonado and Grosjean are overrated, especially if you compare them to the Mercedes-drivers. The Williams has been better than the Mercedes but even unlucky and sometimes unconcentrated Schumacher has outscored Maldonado. Good pace but he didn't deliver. At least Rosberg should be ranked ahead of him as he has scored twice as much points as Maldonado, even though his car wasn't competitive. His last races might have overshadowed the rest of the season a little bit but he really had bad luck in Japan, Korea, VAE & Brazil.
Grosjean has been nowhere after his ban. He lacked confidence and lost pace compared to Kimi. Romain has scored 20 points in the last seven races while his teammate scored 66 points. The podium was never in reach for him. Not every incident he had was his fault, but far too many to belong in the top10 of this season.

Re: F1 2012 Driver Rankings
Team bosses voted Alonso as the best driver in 2012.

Hulkenberg is in the top 8 then... good choices made so far!

So not all team bosses voted Alonso to be the bestAdam wrote:Team bosses voted Alonso as the best driver in 2012.

Re: F1 2012 Driver Rankings
With the outset that 8 team bosses voted for Alonso 1st, I've tried to figure out how the drivers ranked.
Of course this is only a guess, but there are only so many ways you can reach those points over 12 votes.
Fernando Alonso: 8 times 1st, 3 times 2nd, 1 time 3rd
Sebastian Vettel: 3 times 1st, 3 times 2nd, 1 time 3rd, 2 times 4th, 3 times 5th
Lewis Hamilton: 1 time 1st, 3 times 2nd, 4 times 3rd, 2 times 4th, 3 times 5th, 1 time 7th
Kimi Räikkönen: 3 times 2nd, 6 times 3rd, 1 time 4th, 2 times 5th

Re: F1 2012 Driver Rankings
It seems a bit unrealistic that anyone would vote Hamilton 7th... Even voting him 5th doesn't seem right (as voting Vettel 5th doesn't seem right either).mnmracer wrote:With the outset that 8 team bosses voted for Alonso 1st, I've tried to figure out how the drivers ranked.

Re: F1 2012 Driver Rankings
This looks like a complex sudoku puzzle. There are totally 1212 points, 101 points per team boss, 12 team bosses, 24 drivers, 12 x 24 matrix (maybe less if HRT, Marussia and Caterham drivers are left out) and totally 85 points went out of top 10. Anyone good in sudoku?mnmracer wrote:With the outset that 8 team bosses voted for Alonso 1st, I've tried to figure out how the drivers ranked.

I agree it looks strange, I had to double-check myself too, but it's the only way I can seem to fit the drivers to the points they've gathered (and still having only 12 votes per position).reppo wrote:This looks like a complex sudoku puzzle. You're welcome to try and solve the puzzle yourself (though of course, the tricky thing is that there are probably also other drivers voted, that didn't make top 10).
