It'd be a shame because I think he's driven brilliantly this season, especially considering his age. I mean a shame because whoever replaces him - and we're talking hypothetically of course - will be a pay driver. Probably Chinese Martin.

Meanwhile, I wish Joe wouldn't sit on the fence with his opinions

Something interesting in the comments section is this...

Comment: Red Bull bought moribund Jaguar and look at the result. An article was published today about Coca-Cola entering F1 under an energy-drink banner. You can see where I’m going. “Not a chance in hell” on that too?
Joe Saward: Let’s talk in a day or two

''hmm'' Joe knows something. But which team. Rumours say Mercedes but I'm not too sure.

I think it is. And it'll be marketed by Coca Cola through the burn energy drink, which they own.

The first time I heard the Coca Cola rumour, it was linked with McLaren as vodafone want to go to Ferrari completely.

Ah yes, Maria. :p

Oh, and with Coca Cola... could it be Chelsea/Sauber's big sponsor deal they're set to announce soon..?

Yeah I reckon that's most likely.

Joe says other teams will be 'scurrying off to their local soccer teams' to do a similar deal. Hope not...

Heard about the Coca Cola rumors, but what has the Chelsea/Sauber deal got to do with it? Aren't they sponsors of each other already, which "deal" are you referring to?

Chelsea and Sauber are partners. They're set to announce a joint deal with a sponsor, which with all of the rumours, I believe could be Coca-Cola under the 'burn' guise.

Looks certain to be Coca Cola; they've had ties with Chelsea for a while now...

Confirmed, the Coca-Cola [Burn] deal is with Lotus.

Well that's a good news. AMuS said few days ago the financial situation is not good inside the team.

Surely doesn't sound like a title sponsorship to me, though.
That's a pattern with big names joining F1 in recent years, they opt for rather small sponsorship deals rather than choosing a title sponsorship.
Microsoft at Lotus, GE at Caterham and now Coca-Cola with Lotus. It's understandable though with the economy stagnating (at best) since 2008.

Great!!! But would have been better with Battery (FI) or Relentless (UK). They fit better in the Lotus livery!
I assume that in 2014 it will be: Red Bull Racing, Ferrari, Monster Energy Racing (mercedes amg) and Burn racing (Lotus) at the top.

Burn Day, the energy drink is popular in sweden, new zealand and Finland apparently.

personally, I wish the UK got more energy drinks. I love Monster Ripper; great with Jaegermeister! But in America, theres Monster red, purple. Rockstar has quite a few nice flavours like the Pommegranite and Blueberry mix, but they have over 20 flavours like black grape and stuff.

Relentless has butchered their drinks. Coca-Cola has a done a right good job making them taste horrible. 'refreshing new taste' my arse!, theyve took all the fruitiness out by removing 20% of the juice out of it. Ridiculous.

Lewis Hamilton says he's leaving home [McLaren] and 'just going travelling.' Endearing himself to Mercedes already. :p
