Grand Prix History
Istanbul hosted its first race in January 2005 for the first time, when the Istanbul circuit landscaping was fully underway. A ceremony performed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey took place before the new circuit began to operate.
While the finishing touches were being applied the F1 circus arrived to Istanbul for the inaugural event. Fans and drivers alike were impressed with Istanbul’s undulating fast circuit. From the Pole Position, Kimi Raikkonen took the honor of winning at Istanbul the first Turkish Grand Prix for McLaren Mercedes.
At Istanbul Juan Pablo Montoya looked all set to make it a one-two result for the squad only for a late race incident with the lapped Jordan of Tiago Monteiro saw him drop a position to Fernando Alonso.

Turkey should balance the known chassis attributes between the F2007 and the MP4-22. As a natural extension of the tight and twisty Hungaroring, the suggestion could be made that the F2007 should be the faster car in Turkey.This is a track which requires good top speed and good aerodynamics
What effect will the hamilton-Alonso row have on the race? and who will win? Ferrari can catch Mclaren? and what do u think about Bmw?

All eyes will be on the two top rival teams - McLaren and Ferrari...
Special actions and moments to be expected at turn 8 - how cool is that?!?!?!

This is one of my favourite tracks.
We have always seen interesting races here, because of its layout.
Hopefully, this year would be as interesting as the ones in the past. can't wait to see that famous Turn 8 again.

Can't wait for the race !grin! should be a good one... Think of how much better Hungary (in terms of the fighting between Hammy and Alonso and Kimi and Hammy on track) would have been on a track like Turkey :@:2 if we have fireworks like we did then it should be a race to remember...

it'll be interesting to see if Mclaren will come out in a scarlet red paint livery with Marlboro advertisements

marlboro will advertise mclaren once again?
Surely Marlboro can't sponser Mclaren, their tied up with Ferrari?

Maybe next year, after all Vodafone switched from Ferrari to McLaren so why not Marlboro as well? :@:2

Well, next three circuits suits little better to Ferrari than McLaren. So like you said, lets see. You have to remember that Kimi is also stronger than ever. $peace

I wouldn't be suprised to see Mclaren doing better than expected, after all 2005 was really good for them here. But we will have to wait and see! Also i would place my bet on Alonso, reason being that spanish rage and his determination for a 3rd title may bring him an advantage in these last few races. But obviously Lewis, Kimi & Massa will all be up there too :T:@

Hamilton dominated in 2006 here it'll be very close for the first time this season
In 2006 Massa won it by approximately 5 seconds over Alonso.
In 2005 Raikkonen won it by approximately 19 seconds over Alonso.

Ferrari and Kimi are strong here... and also kimi said that following rounds are suitable for ferrari...
so i believe that ferrari have a chance... Hamilton did very well in GP2...
alonso has always been on 2nd place here...
so lets see... it will be close...
i hope BMW catch up with their windtunnel development...
