Re: Formula One TV Coverage
I think you're the only person I've seen that likes Lazenby
He doesn't seem to listen to the conversation very much. I feel like he has a list of questions and he'll ask them regardless of what the conversation has moved on it. He also stops mid sentence a lot, as if he's listening to the director in his ear. Above all though, you just get the feeling he hasn't got a clue.
Jake's style is to be friendly and homely. I think it works very well and certainly the BBC seem to get slightly more honest and relaxed interviews from the drivers as a result. The only danger that JH, EJ and DC have is that they're beginning to look a little bit like the Top Gear guys doing F1. Perhaps a tiny bit too relaxed sometimes.
Can't fault Ted. He's the best thing on Sky. I feel too that sometimes he'd like to do a lot more but they won't let him.
Biggest problem with Sky is that they have a lot of time to fill pre- and post-race but don't seem to have a very good idea of HOW to do that.

Ted is crazy
"Sorry I didn't pose"
"Don't look at me, look at Jenson button for God's sake"

Re: Formula One TV Coverage
Having suffered through the puerile and COMPLETELY biased commentating of the Sky bunch this season, I can only hope that someone stuffs Brundle's mouth with a sock soon so I don't have to listen to more about Hamilton and Button. It's bad enough to put up with the shockingly obvious bias against Vettel, probably one of the best drivers to race in the last couple of years, but to have to listen to the garbage about McLaren, Hamilton, and Shumacher over and over again makes me want to turn the sound off. Brundle's time is passed.
I do get a laugh as I see all his speculations turn to dust as Vettel cruises to victory once again. I believe that if Sky had any b*** at all they would be screaming, as we all should for Grosjean's disqualification for the rest of the season. It would not be so bad if Grosjean were the only victim, but race after race Roman takes out one or two of the top contenders for that race.

It would be ludicrous to ban him for the rest of the season. Very very few people are suggesting that.mileso wrote:I believe that if Sky had any b*** at all they would be screaming, as we all should for Grosjean's disqualification for the rest of the season.
I can only think of Alonso, Hamilton and Webber that it applies to and that's only from 2 incidents.mileso wrote:It would not be so bad if Grosjean were the only victim, but race after race Roman takes out one or two of the top contenders for that race.
Re: Formula One TV Coverage
Don't agree with any of your criticisms.
Herbert was very harsh on Grosjean after Suzuka, said Lotus should show him the door.

Re: Formula One TV Coverage
Yep. I don't think Sky are biased at all. They cover, credit and berate all the drivers equally.donald29 wrote:Don't agree with any of your criticisms.

Re: Formula One TV Coverage
I sometimes wish the media would look more on the positive side of F1 sometimes. Occasionally, you have a right to criticise a driver, but too often it's over the top. Like Perez, in the 90s it would have been seen as something that happens in races. Now it's used to portray him as wild.

Speed TV will end its broadcasting of F1 at the end of the season.
Re: Formula One TV Coverage
Just when F1 finally comes back to the US, not only for one but two races. Brilliant.phil1993 wrote:Speed TV will end its broadcasting of F1 at the end of the season.

It's been picked up by another network. Which means NBC or abc I guess. It remains to be seen whether they will stick with the same team.MavF1 wrote:Just when F1 finally comes back to the US, not only for one but two races. Either way, they didn't show all the races anyway, or did they? Is Speed FTA?phil1993 wrote:It's been picked up by another network. Which means NBC or abc I guess. Re: Formula One TV Coverage
I thought they did, but not all live. It appears it's NBC that has acquired the rights.
