The future of Lewis Hamilton
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Yeah I think Rosberg's stock has dropped this year despite the win.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
I don't think Lewis fans should despair really. I mean, Fernando hasn't won a title since 2006. Is he the best driver? Undoubtedly, so Lewis could do a similar thing at Mercedes. Drive the wheels off it and show everyone how good he is.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Alonso already has two titles though. And I think Lewis is more likely to get frustrated than Alonso who is undoubtedly the best at keeping his cool and staying consistent.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Predicting what will happen is difficult. 2014 could be a massive shake-up. The one thing is Ferrari and McLaren will always be near the front.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
I can see why he wanted to leave McLaren but I don't think an immediate move to Mercedes for 2013 is the way to go.
Another year at McLaren would of perhaps been better for him but when you look at the dollar and sponsorship deals as part of his move to Mercedes you can see commercially its great for his management team.

Jenson is now following Checo on Twitter.
He's no longer following Lewis

Must admit I'm quite surprised to hear that Lewis has actually gone to Mercedes. Even more surprised that Sergio went to McLaren. I think this will surely mean that Schumacher's career is over, as I cannot see him going to Sauber.

Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
I think Lewis has made a huge mistake going to Mercedes. If he wants to win races and challenge for the championship, this is not the team with which to do that. McLaren on the other hand have done a great job in signing Pérez. He's very quick and genuinely spectacular to watch and I think he really does have the potential to win races and championships in the future. For the moment, he'll be a solid compliment to Button.

The worst thing for Lewis was Ron stepping down.
I hope Mercedes has a better livery next season

About Hamilton losing faith:
I personally believe that McLaren has suffered greatly since the departure of Ron Dennis from the team principal role. His obsessive-compulsive leadership style was what secured McLaren's dominance and ensured that the tiny details weren't overlooked (like wheels not being bolted onto cars). Getting sloppy is what has cost McLaren 2 world championships in recent years (I firmily believe that they still deserved the 2007 title and I feel that they could have won it in 2008 as well) and is certainly a huge reason that Hamilton has felt like he's had enough.

Cool, won't miss him at all, although his one of the best. I can't wait to see his reaction after fighting for positions like 4-5-6-7.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
For the fans its a living nightmare, but I think Lewis will learn a lot with Mercedes, fighting for 5th place and below. If he wanted to 'win' though, I don't think its the correct decision.

AMuS says the first contact between Hamilton and Mercedes happened after Canada.
Re: The future of Lewis Hamilton
Interesting aspect for McLaren will be who brings the qualifying pace. Button has taken one pole in three years and regularly qualifies slower than Button. Perez has been beaten 8-6 by Kobayashi this season.
