Tom Cary says it's Mercedes, just waiting for Mercedes board to sign Concorde agreement.

Jonathan Legard and The Sun report the same.

I'm torn but it will be entertaining no matter your opinion.

Yep, looks like it's happening. The guys in the know seem certain. Hamilton to Mercedes and Perez to McLaren.

Perez's father said on Twitter he has signed.

I also don't get the JV comparisons. Villeneuve was very good in 1999 and 2000, it was only 2001 when it went wrong and that was his own doing.

I think EJ was tipped off by someone. The only reason it took so long to be official was Hamilton's management waiting for Mercedes to confirm their participation after 2012.

So in the last twenty odd years, McLaren has managed to let go of Prost, Senna, Raikkonen, Alonso and now Hamilton.

Good job

For once I agree with Joe Saward.

Think of the manufacturer teams that had success... 3 wins between Jaguar, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes, Honda. How much money did they throw at F1?

As he said a few weeks ago, it's a sign of Lewis' mindset as this is not a rational move.

Mercedes have maintained an illusion as a top team, but they're closer to a mid-field one based on 2010-now. It's not just that it's Mercedes, as Saward says look at the Brackley team's record before then.

Who knows, maybe Lewis is gambling on having a Brawn like car in 2014 and winning the title, while McLaren keep winning, but not winning the title?

Anyway, delighted for Checo
