i just don't understand why next year will have 2 races in spain and not imola!

because alonso is the champion so there are two gps in spain, when michael schumacher was champion there were two gps in germany

Well, a couple of years ago, the European GP was not held always in Germany. I can remember Portugal (estoril) and I m sure there were other circuits too.

Good to see canada !grin! There is safety with regard to the track, but more especially the infrastructures. Bernie complains that the infrastructures of the GP of Canada are old and that they would need to be improved. Perhaps the organizers of the GP decided to spend a few million dollars to satisfy the requirements of Bernie... Today, the infrastructures count much. There is only to see those of the GP of Turkey or China to realize it. Bernie often takes them in example for the others

Canada had a new wall where Kubica hit in the NASCAR Busch race there a couple of weeks ago. The wall was much close to the track.

I loved Imola before 1994, but after that tragic weekend, they destroyed the track. I won't miss it.

You know it was just getting to the point here in the US that people were talking about F1 and TV channels were starting to fight over the rights. It seem impossible to me that they failed to come to an agreement over the financial element.

I did hear that Wynn of Las Vegas was pushing hard to get a slot on the calendar. Does anyone know if that is true? DId it not come off or is it planned for 09?

FIA publish revised 2008 Formula 1 Calendar

The FIA has published a revised calendar for the Formula 1 2008 season on Tuesday afternoon. The Belgian Grand Prix has switched places with the Italian Grand Prix. The race at Spa-Francorchamps is now scheduled in the weekend of 7 September, while the race at Monza will be held one week later. Another change is seen at the end of the season. The Japanese and Chinese Grand Prix has also swapped places in October.

2008 F1 World Championship calendar announced

Close on the heels of the 2007 season's conclusion and following its meeting today at its headquarters in Paris, the FIA's World Motor Sport Council has released the calendar regarding the 2008 Formula One Championship.

Beginning in March and ending in November, the season will count 18 rounds, one more than this year.

The United States race has disappeared from the list of destinations, leaving Canada as the single North American Formula One event.

The European Grand Prix will move to its new location in Valencia where an urban track is being prepared. Spain will therefore be hosting two races starting next year.

The addition of Singapore on the F1 calendar will also mark the series' first-ever race under artificial light.

Its good that so many new tracks are appearing on the calendar. Its not that I don'tlike the existing tracks, but new tracks = a bigger challenge for the drivers, and they are all on a level playing field. Also the inclusion of singapore and valencia makes 3 street circuit tracks which will be interesting, but I hope they are wide enough for some overtaken unlike monaco which is too narrow.
