2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
I still think the ending of the 2008 race was one of the most exciting moments in F1 history... and then ruined by one of the worst stewarding decisions in F1 history!
The battle was between Lewis and Kimi, yet Felipe ended up with the victory. It was just a ludicrous decision. Yet F1 doesn't learn, as the same fate befell Seb in Germany; switch the places don't give them a time penalty!

Agreed. I've personally taken it upon myself to not officially recognize that there ever was a 2008 Belgian Grand Prix.phil1993 wrote:I still think the ending of the 2008 race was one of the most exciting moments in F1 history... and then ruined by one of the worst stewarding decisions in F1 history!

This is my first season watching F1, but I really enjoy Kimi's race style. I have been checking out the old videos where he does his "little trick" to get ahead at the very start of the race by going off the track. From what I have seen, going into the runoff areas when not in need won't be tolerated anymore by the stewards; will this perhaps mess with Kimi's race given that his biggest issue has been qualifying?

Hi! Yes, he did that trick in 2009 but it isn't allowed now.Ginger_Canon wrote:This is my first season watching F1, but I really enjoy Kimi's race style. One of Kimi's main tricks with Spa is the speed he can carry through Eau Rouge. He's just phenomenal there!

I don't quite agree with that one. If this is applied, drivers will have nothing to lose by going for a banzai lunge on the car head, either aggressively or off-road, knowing the worse that can happen is that he'll be back where he was in the first place. Plus, a driver that overtakes illegally but returns the position surely must suffer less punishment than one who doesn't.phil1993 wrote:I still think the ending of the 2008 race was one of the most exciting moments in F1 history... and then ruined by one of the worst stewarding decisions in F1 history!

At the end of the day, a time penalty is a drive through penalty that didn't happen because the stewards didn't had have enough time to make the decision during the race.

I don't agree with that. Vettel illegally passed Button, so just drop him back to 3rd. It's logical.

F1Zone will be there live from Spa
Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
FIA stewards made own grave yard, with the stupid run off tarmacs. If there is grass then im sure drivers would react differently. Its like stewards say - "come and get your penalty"
And drivers dont have a choice somethimes then go off on tarmac and then the stewards even smack them like a fly on the table.
Get back grass if not gravel.

Problem is, Vettel didnt believe he did wrong. And putting him back to 3rd place wouldnt change that. He still thinks he didnt do anything wrong, but was put back to what, 5th was it? Seems harsh, but if he thinks its ok to overtake off track, then he should be punished to learn. If he knew he was in the wrong, he wouldve given the position back, wait a corner, and then attack again but he believed he was right, wouldve cried foul if Jenson did it to him, and deserved to be punished.phil1993 wrote:I don't agree with that. its like lewis in 2008 when everyone cried foul. It was harsh, but it deserved a penalty. I knew that you had to wait a corner. Lewis had no intention of backing off and turning into the corner, he cut it, ended up with the momentum from not making the corner and being right under raikkonens rear wing and overtook him, which he wouldnt have done into T1 if he backed off the corner. Again, lewis didnt think he did wrong. If he did, he wouldve backed off a corner like Japan 2005 with Alonso/Klien

And it appears im the only one with Faith in Alonso winning Spa, as im the single vote for him lmao! Bout time he broke his Spa Duck.
Re: 2012 Shell Belgian Grand Prix
FIA modified DRS activation point. Activation point is now 320m after T4, so the DRS zone is now a 50m shorter than previous.
