Ferrari have reportedly been told to swoop for Lewis Hamilton by their bosses Fiat.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Italian car manufacturer want their F1 team to make a £17million raid on McLaren for the young British sensation.
Hamilton once again showed off his breathtaking talent by extending his lead in the title race with victory in Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.
But afterwards all the talk was of the rift between him and McLaren team-mate Fernando Alsono.
The Spaniard's future appears to be in doubt, but the Mirror claims it's Hamilton that could be the man being targeted for a move. It claims Fiat are hoping Ferrari can capitalise on the internal strife at McLaren to lure Hamilton away to Maranello.
The British rookie is earning just £250,000 in his first season in Formula One, and the Italian giants would be happy to make him one of the world's highest-paid sportsmen.
Current Ferrari number one Kimi Raikkonen rakes in £22million per year, but Hamilton could even top that.

I don't think that Hamilton will go to Ferarri he's McLarens boy so he will drive years for them.

This is very good news if it happens, but would he replace Kimi or Massa?

I think that he would replace Massa. Reason: It would be very expencive to kick Kimi off. Though, I don't believe that Hamy comes to Ferrari. He is McLaren's men and he stays at McLaren's men.
Re: FERRARI BIG BOSSES WANT HAMILTON
they can take him, this sort of driver belongs in this sort of team

Re: FERRARI BIG BOSSES WANT HAMILTON
I think LH is indebted to McLaren since they effectively 'raised' Lewis over the years. McLaren will have to pony-up major $$$ to keep Hamilton for 2008 and if they severely under-pay him then I could see a departure. What LH has proved on the track thus far seals up his potential earnings in F1. For Hamilton to go to Ferrari would kinda be like Schumacher going to McLaren. Money talks though. I wonder if LH can be bought like any other commodity? Lets say McLaren offered Hamilton $20mil/yr and Ferrari offered him $25mil/yr both with open-ended options at the end of the year; who would Hamilton choose? Is 5mil a great enough difference for LH to 'betray' his loyalty to a team that is at least 50% responsible for his blossoming career thus far? Oh bother, I wish I had this 'dilemma.'
Re: FERRARI BIG BOSSES WANT HAMILTON
i doubt that hamilton will leave for ferrari as the others have said he is 'indebted' to mclaren. true he has the talent and is a great driver from what we have seen thus mclaren will do all it takes to keep him. about alonso, i have a feeling hes probably leaving mclaren after this season ends unless mclaren can make him happy

The Daily Mirror as a source?
I rate them just as bad as The Sun.

Re: FERRARI BIG BOSSES WANT HAMILTON
Lewis Hamilton said that he will start and finish his career at McLaren. I'm not sure where I read that, but he has said it many times that he would like to finish there.
Re: FERRARI BIG BOSSES WANT HAMILTON
WOW... .second season from 250,000 to 17 mil is quite a bit of diff..
I would never even have thought that lewis would consider movin for ferrari, but after wuts happening with mclaren internally, i don't think people are doubting that that just might be on his mind.
Another point is that according to planet-f1, Ron Dennis might step down....... afterall he is def. a huge part of lewis' success today.. so with ron gone, lewis will have an easier time leaving mclaren.

Re: FERRARI BIG BOSSES WANT HAMILTON
He will not leave Maccas unless their car is not decent enough.
McLaren is in his blood. He's not like just any other driver who goes to a team for money, he was brought up there, and he breathes McLaren
