Fuel pressure is confirmed, it had nothing to do with the start. Great that the car wasn't damaged at all after the first lap.François wrote:Is the fuel pressure thing official? During the live broadcast (in French) they said something about a suspension spring getting loose, possibly as a consequence of the tangle with Grosjean at the start. Since the impact was sufficient to break the Lotus's rear suspension on the spot, I can't imagine Schumi's car wasn't damaged at all in the incident.Edi96 wrote:Schumacher had the pace to win but would have retired anyway.

Rear suspensions just aren't what they used to be.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Just found this from my preview
"Fresh off the back of a victory in Spain, Monaco specialist Pastor Maldonado is the one to watch. Now that we’ve said that, expect him to bin it on the opening lap"
Success!

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
One of the first accurate predictions of the year!
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Oy Here's what I said at the start of the year
Vettel: World Title number three but not in completely dominant fashion. Still possible
Webber: An improvement on 2011, but unlikely to fight for the title like in 2010. Part one true, part two might be true
Button: Overcoming Vettel will be difficult, while he also has to resist a likely recharged Hamilton. May have to play second fiddle at McLaren this year, but it’ll be close. Kind of right
Hamilton: More wins and a fight for the title – as long as he learns the art of tyre preservation. Hmmm
Alonso: It depends what the F2012 is like but you know that Alonso will fight for every tenth of a second. Yes!
Raikkonen: Quick and committed. Should fare well with podiums a target
RoGro: Needs some assured drives and to collect points. If he curbs an erratic driving style, then he could match Kimi
Perez: The C31 looks like a handy car, so maybe Perez will be the surprise of the year?
I may have omitted my less good predictions

Courtesy of an autosport poster, you can see how stupid grosjean over reacted and totally forgot about the left side of the track. Far too focused on Fernando who was watching his mirrors to ensure he had enough gap for Romain. Monaco; Another one of Grosjeans faults;
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
I think you're being a little unfair. That picture has to be taken in context. Alonso had shoved his way in to a gap that wasn't really there on a very tight bit of tarmac at OMG mph. The wheel contact with Grosjean shoved him over which in turn squeezed Schumacher.
If the picture had been taken 2 seconds earlier it would look very different.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Alonso got boxed by two slow-starters; Lewis infront and Romain to his left. We know how Monaco is like, the start is EVERYTHING. He can't afford to botch his great traction off the start because others were slow off the line. He had to either shove Lewis from his rear end, or tap Romain from the side to make space for himself. Easy decision in the end...

iHate grosjean ...but i think its not his fault. He is just bad luck for 'S' (Schumacher and Saubers )mikhailv wrote:Courtesy of an autosport poster, you can see how stupid grosjean over reacted and totally forgot about the left side of the track. Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Grosjean was the victim there. His only fault (a big one, though) was his poor getaway; as for the rest, you can clearly see from his onboard that Alonso moves right into his path and triggers contact, to which GRO reacts the only possible way to avoid an accident: had he slowed down, he would have sent Alonso spinning and/or gotten rammed from behind. It is also clear to see that Michael freaked out and backed down, for which he cannot be blamed; in hindsight, though, had he kept his foot down, the contact could have been avoided. Maybe. Who knows. Who cares?
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
This is what I said in the review
I believe it was just one of those incidents, although it was exacerbated by Grosjean's inexperience.A contretemps between Fernando Alonso, Romain Grosjean and Michael Schumacher left the Frenchman spinning sideways before coming to a halt on the inside of Sainte Devote. It was sparked when Lewis Hamilton had a poor getaway from his third place grid slot; the 2008 world champion later exclaimed his bewilderment at such a terrible start to his McLaren team. Alonso, directly behind his former team mate, jinked left to avoid his rival and clipped Grosjean who, in the split second of uncertainty, ran slightly too wide and gave Schumacher no space. The Mercedes driver clipped Grosjean’s left rear wheel, breaking the suspension of the Lotus E20 and sending Grosjean spinning across the field. Schumacher himself was fortunate to continue having struck the Lotus as well as the outside wall on the pit straight. “We struggled to get off the line and it looked like Lewis [Hamilton] in front didn’t have the best start either” said the reigning GP2 champion. “Fernando [Alonso] pulled alongside him so I was then on the outside of both cars, and unfortunately Michael [Schumacher] was on the outside of me as well.”
Grosjean was now more than sideways as the field approached Sainte Devote “There just wasn’t enough room and next thing I’m facing all the traffic after just one hundred metres which wasn’t a nice feeling.”
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
What was remarkable was Webber's brilliant fast start, sealing off Rossberg's angled positioning threat and taking the lead. Webber has been notoriously slow on the starting grid.

Just seen what Heikki did to Jenson (in the race edit). Lost a bit of respect for him actually.
