You couldn't have said it bettermikhailv wrote: But a true Alonso fan always has faith. Id cheer him on if he was fighting for 1st place or 23rd place. Doesnt matter about anything else, I share the joy of a victory the satisfaction of a podium, the disapointment of a retirement and the sorrow of a loss. Its what makes the sport for me, supporting a driver. So boring being a casual, no nerves at the start hoping to get through T1 cleanly or in the lead. The cthrill of the chase or defence. Alonso brings that for me.
The future of Ferrari's #2?

Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
When he genuinely gets traffic on his Q2 lap then spends the race in traffic as a result, as he did in Spain, the result was not a true reflection of his pace. The problem is races like these where he does genuinely get a bit of bad luck get mixed with races like Australia where he was just poor to create the situation he's in now.
Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
Donald is correct. Ferrari screwed Massa by keeping him in the garage with 3 mins to go. he had great pace, great start and got stuck behind the indian boats. The drive throughs were stupid.
but the top 4 were in a league of their own

Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
The problem with Massa is that he can't string a race weekend together. He's a distance behind Alonso in pace, but then again who isn't, yet his weekend is just full of problems.
Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
Maybe Massa should change his race engineer as this might give him new impulses. It can't hurt his performance much

Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
Getting a bit of bad luck (I recognise he had) is not justification to be 15th lapped by 3 other drivers, one of them his teammate. Vettel was more or less in the same situation (7th or 8th after the start, with Massa 2/3 positions behind and also had the drive-trough) and he finished 6th nine positions ahead of Felipe. Lewis started in last position, finished eight. And about the qualification, yeah Ferrari maybe screwed his last try in Q2 in Spain and in the other races? It was Ferrari fault too that he can´t even qualify to the Q3, not even one time so far (not even close)? The only thing about this that is Ferrari´s fault is that they didn´t fired him already.
Alonso fastest lap was 1 second better than Massa´s http://www.statsf1.com/pt/2012/espagne/ ... -tour.aspx. Jean Eric Vergne fastest lap was better than Massa´s. He didn´t had great pace. It was not terrible but it was poor. Again. And the interview is not honest at all when he starts saying in this 5 races so far his pace is "not far away" from Alonso. This is not the pace a Ferrari driver should have (not even #2), this is nearly Badoer´s level.

I think Felipe needs a massive result this weekend..."It is not an easy time but if you look back at my career I have had many difficult times in my career and my life, so this is another one.
"Maybe it is the most difficult one, so we need to get out of the way of that to go back in the right direction as it was. It is always better to be in the good times than the bad times but that is life, so that is what we are looking for."
"I don't think Fernando is the problem," he explained. "You always have great team-mates and difficult times with the team-mate, so they are strong guys together. I don't think that is the problem."

Birthday present from his manager. He will have plenty of time for karting soon enough...
Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
Are you sure it isn't actually his manager introducing his next years racing car to him Well, one Felipe might go while there is an other one coming into F1 in year or two. Though I wish Massa to improve and be in F1 next year too.Edi96 wrote:Birthday present from his manager. He will have plenty of time for karting soon enough...
Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
I hope he continues in F1 but not with Top Teams. He is the type of guy who will drive his heart out but only if he gets a perfect car. He is lacking the leadership skills like the other top drivers from other teams. I think the best option for him will be to goto a decent midfield team & prove his worth again.reppo wrote:Are you sure it isn't actually his manager introducing his next years racing car to him Well, one Felipe might go while there is an other one coming into F1 in year or two. Massa's performance today was surely a career saving one. When he is capable of this, Ferrari would be mad to replace him mid-season. Let's see if he can keep it up tomorrow.
Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
Agreed. If he keeps his head in this race and takes this form all through the season, He might just save his own arse. Or is it still too little too late?afib wrote:Massa's performance today was surely a career saving one. When he is capable of this, Ferrari would be mad to replace him mid-season. Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
Massa might save his seat but not necessarily in Ferrari. He could go to a smaller team.
Re: The future of Ferrari's #2?
If keeps it up, don't see why Ferrari won't let him stay...
