Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
Have McLaren said any more? They announced their test drivers would be running but then Hamilton said he'd like to drive. I wonder if Hamilton did get a day if Button would then want one to.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
McLaren have confirmed there are no changes to their testing plans, neither Button nor Hamilton will take part.

Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
What is the logic in McLaren decision to have only Paffett and Turvey testing. There aren't too many opportunities for testing on current rules. No matter what they are testing.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
Maybe trying to give their races drivers some time off? Allow them to have time off for testing so they can do some sponsor commitments later on.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
isn't this Ferrari's testing circuit?

I don't know, maybe different drivers give different feedback? I can't imagine the McLaren engineers wouldn't be interested in what two long-time, professional development drivers would have to say.reppo wrote:What is the logic in McLaren decision to have only Paffett and Turvey testing. Also: to keep a strong line-up of development drivers, you have to provide them with opportunities. Otherwise they might start looking for better deals elsewhere, and then you might not only lose them, but also run the risk of a rival team finding out more about your car than you'd like. All of that makes sense to me.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
I think they should have let Lewis go there if he wanted. Jenson wasn't interested so he have a vacation. With Lewis they would have something to compare how test drivers perform. Lotus schedule is therefore better IMHO.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
Ferrari owns Mugello, which hosts MotoGP and DTM races. I don't think it has ever hosted a F1 race. Lower series races there has been. The real Ferrari test track is Fiorano near Maranello. It is Ferrari's private track for testing only: Fiorano Circuittderias wrote:isn't this Ferrari's testing circuit?
With current testing ban it is useless for F1 testing. Neither Mugello or Fiorano gives Ferrari any advantages when compared to other F1 teams.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
oh yea... Fiorano thats the one... thanks reppo

Mercedes candidates ? Probably Race Drivers ... With current Tyre & Testing situation you simply can't miss any opportunity. Strange decision from McLaren!
So far only Force India is taking about updates.

Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
Ferrari will run in Mugello only some of the planned upgrades they are bringing for the Spanish race.
Re: In-season Test, Mugello Circuit, 1-3 May
I was joking about the McLaren drivers not testing to do PR stuff, but Button is actually doing a demo run in Hungary tomorrow.donald29 wrote:Maybe trying to give their races drivers some time off? Allow them to have time off for testing so they can do some sponsor commitments later on.
