Latvala hit a rock and was thrown into a ditch. He is off :(
Solberg has stopped and Ketomaa has problems :(
Hirvonen said that conditions are terrible and anything can happen. What a weird rally.

Good heavens, they are really dropping like flies :( Really shows how difficult rallying can be...

Jari-Matti broke also the suspension of the car

Doesn't look too bad but he can't get the car up.

Edit: Image disappeared. Changed it to an url.

SS10 will be cancelled. Second loop running with 30-60mins delayed to allow blocked cars between SS6-SS7 to get to service and back out.

That's good news. Wonder if Latvala can get back. Hirvonen dislikes the rally now:

Hirvonen cursed the conditions
30.03.2012 17:35

Mikko Hirvonen is not exited about rally of Portugal despite of the top place.

Conditions for special stages are really challenging. Muddy roads practically eat out cars in form of driving off the road. Hirvonen is one of the few survivors.

- So it looks. We were slow in many places, because we did not take any risks. But it was the right decision, Hirvonen chuckled.

If rain continues, Hirvonen must drive on hard tyres in difficult conditions. Ten soft tyres are already used.

- Tomorrow, as also the afternoon running today, will be dumb things. The rule is really bad, and conditions tomorrow, are certainly not be any better. Soft tyres are now used.

Now it says in http://www.wrc.com/results/2012/vodafon ... 2&stageno=
16:55 Afternoon loop cancelled in Portugal

It has just been confirmed that today's remaining three stages have been cancelled
Latvala's co-driver Miikka Anttila says they will continue tomorrow :) Though no chance of winning the race :(

Not the first crash for Latvala or first crash in Portugal
All Jari-Matti Latvala's major crashes

Interestingly in the first crash on the video Miikka Anttila looses pace notes, and in the crash they fly back to his hands

How much longer can Latvala hold on at Ford. Honestly. I know Loeb & Petter made errors, but Jari-Matti makes so many errors. It's frustrating because he has so much natural speed; maybe he should be a circuit racer! :p
