Re: Winter Testing 2012
Actually when i looked the laptimes again, i don't know why people are already worried. They seem to be looking at the last times Kimi did. Earlier today he did almost exactly same length run with 1.22 times than WEB and BUT did in the end of the day. I'm not saying that the car would be even near to McLaren and RBR but these times aren't anything to look at. (yeah i know that's what i'm doing right now)
Re: Winter Testing 2012
I guess you missunderstood me. I'm not saying Kimi is a bad driver but 2 years out of F1 are a lot these days. do you think Schumi would have won the Championship last year if he would have been a Red Bull driver? I don't think so... but maybe you think he's not a good driversleenster wrote: Oh yeah, because the driver is the one responsible for designing and developing the car

If the car is c**p there's really not much Kimi can do, all I can hope for is that he at least is able to extract the maximum potential out of the car. That wouldn't be a disappointment in my opinion.
Re: Winter Testing 2012
I'll be less skeptical if he continues to top the timesheets.
His longest run has been 9 laps, most have been 4-5 lap runs.

Around here, the guys seem to think Raikkonen is on pace, at least the German speaking ones. It's funny to hear the German journalists hearing that Kimi is not Schumacher (as a good thing for Kimi ).eleanor wrote:I guess you missunderstood me. His times today were extremely stable. Once he started a run, all the laps would have constant times.
The car... let's wait and see. Kimi admitted during the press conference that he had done his best time on fresh tyres. He didn't seem to think it was a representative time at all.
Well, at least he said that he has had some worse first day of testing in the past.
Re: Winter Testing 2012
I think he did a 12 laps one at the very end, but he was 5 seconds a lap slower than the McLaren then. Worrying.F1Fan88 wrote:I'll be less skeptical if he continues to top the timesheets.

Re: Winter Testing 2012
That's all there is to say, really. Before the second Barcelona test, testing times are useless.Autosport wrote:Testing doesn't always tell an accurate picture - remember last year Rubens Barrichello's Williams was fastest of all during the Jerez week, a dizzy height the car never came near approaching when the actual season started.

Fastest time in Jerez last year: 1:19:832
Fastest time in Jerez this year: 1:19:670
I know there's no point to overvalue the times, but it's interesting to see that the cars are already fast. Could it be that the 2012 cars are faster than the 2011 cars despite the rule changes?

Last year, it rained for most of the tests in Jerez. That's why the times where so bad. In 2009, they did 1:17Eric_Cartman wrote:Fastest time in Jerez last year: 1:19:832
