Sounds weird. It is an instinctive reaction to push the attacker away. Getting 18 months even if suspended is harsh. Instincts doesn't say "Hey I'm famous - RUN"donald29 wrote:On Sutil, Adam Cooper tweeted CCTV showed that the other guy attacked Sutil first and Sutil just tried to push him away. He says the judge said the outcome of the case was influenced by the fact Sutil is famous and should be a role-model, basically meaning his punishment was harsher than it would have been if it was just a normal guy.

Making an example of someone high profile. Hardly equality before the law is it?
Re: 2012 Formula One Discussion
I thought the 200k charity donation and suspended sentence sounded like the lawyers struck a deal. Seemed very light to me. However, none of us have seen the footage or the real case evidence so it's hard to say.
Re: 2012 Formula One Discussion
He should appeal. Sutil is a first offender. I'm quite sure that the expert report which led to his conviction won't last at the state court.
He earned 750.000€ last year, is currently jobless and still has 600.000 - 800.000€ debts from the early part of his career, which his why 200.000€ is too much. In my opinion the unknown judge just wanted to profile herself at the expanse of Adrian...

She also said, the sentence was suspended, even if it was over a year, because Sutil doesn't have a contract for 2012donald29 wrote:Making an example of someone high profile. Hardly equality before the law is it?

The 200K seem to be related with Sutil's salary. Sometimes the money penalties depend on the defendant's income, not the damage or the possibility of a deal. (I think, I've watched too many "Richter Hold" on German TV each time a caught a flu )Kevin Clark wrote:I thought the 200k charity donation and suspended sentence sounded like the lawyers struck a deal. Light? why light?
The different levels of Körperverletzung comprise many different things. Some of them would have never been seen in a court in my country, for example.
The reports from court say the footage didn't clear anything, it was all too blurry. The judge decided there was gefährliche Körperverletzung because of the direction the glass hat cut into Lux's neck. It seems that expert's report was the only proof in one or the other direction.

Readying today's news about Jaime on F1Zone... Wish that happens and Jaime is able to keep his presence on the paddock.
Would be really funny if he gets it and I cannot watch it because no Spanish channel will broadcast it... Hope someone buys the damn thing already..

Re: 2012 Formula One Discussion
Looks to me like a case where everybody was drunk in a restaurant. Nobody really remembers anything, but have a flimsy flashback what must have happened. A blurry video which can interpreted one way or an other. Finally judge had to make some kind of decision. 18 months sounds too long sentence to me. 6 months suspended would have been enough if they want to make an example. Sutil may have been dumb but he is not such a criminal that he should be treated differently than any other normal citizen. 200k is ok.

Rumours say, this is a ploy to pass the rights to Antena3, since they can't do it directly until all the legal issues of the merge with LaSexta are solved and finished.Adam wrote:Readying today's news about Jaime on F1Zone... Wish that happens and Jaime is able to keep his presence on the paddock.

I don't know if the rumours are right or not.

Sutil considers ‘something different’ after conviction
31 January 2012
Adrian Sutil has acknowledged that his Formula 1 career could be over, having been handed an 18-month suspended jail sentence and a fine of 200,000 euros (£165,000) on Tuesday. This follows a nightclub clash in April 2011 after which Eric Lux (CEO of Genii Capital, co-owner of the Lotus F1 team) required 24 stitches.
“Maybe I will take some time out now,” Sutil told Reuters when leaving the court in Munich. “Maybe I will do something completely different, think about things in peace. At least I shook Mr Lux's hand - that's a good thing,”
When referring to the incident, prosecutor Nicole Selzam explained that Sutil’s sentence has been constructed with his profession in mind:
“Pushing someone away with a glass is adventurous and not in-line with our experience of life. Professional athletes play a role model function in public life and such incidents should not occur.”
Sutil has already been replaced at Force India by German compatriot Nico Hülkenberg, who steps up from the role of reserve driver to join Paul di Resta. The reserve place is now occupied by Ferrari protégé Jules Bianchi.

This.donald29 wrote:I think at times the McLaren was faster than the Red Bull, Japan for example. Abu Dhabi as well. Hamilton's Q2 time was good enough for pole that weekend, but Vettel got it together in Q3 when Hamilton didn't. There were still times when the Red Bull was clearly the best though such as Brazil. Over the course of the season I don't think anyone disputes the Red Bull was the best car, but even so I think Red Bull / Vettel made more of what they had than McLaren. There were less mistakes from them
Vettel knew he has to nail the qualifying lap because of the RB7's inferior top speed. That's why Webber was so much slower, as well as him not getting to grips with the Pirelli tyres.
Vettel won a few races that he shouldn't have done, but did thanks to his brilliance (and a bit of luck) last year - Spain, Monaco, perhaps Monza.

Nice one reppo.
Sky had already taken the quotes and posted their own story as well.
