We've had the best Finnish driver and very few nations can boast about having multiple world champions (Brazil, USA, Germany) but we'll start off with the best British driver, as there's many to choose from.
Jenson Button - Has come of age and is one of F1's finest talents
Jim Clark - Seen as one of F1's greatest ever. 2 world titles, 25 wins from 72 starts
David Coulthard - Always the bridesmaid, but a damn good one.
Lewis Hamilton - Burst onto the scene, but has his stardom dwindled?
Damon Hill - 22 wins including Jordan's first
Graham Hill - Master of Monaco, 2 world titles and 14 wins
James Hunt - Playboy extraordinaire, 1976 champion
Nigel Mansell - 31 wins, perhaps unlucky not to win more titles
Sir Stirling Moss - 4 times runner-up, only recently retired!
Sir Jackie Stewart - 3 world titles and 27 wins from 99 starts
John Surtees - Master on two wheels and four

Wise words mate.Eric_Cartman wrote:Jim Clark followed by Jackie Stewart
I'm suprised at the results of the pole so far tho. Must be an age thing
Without question, Britain's best F1 drivers have to be Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart. Both Scottish though?
Followed by Britian's best driver Sir Stirling Moss. Another true gent and sportsman.

Re: Best British Driver?
yeah jim clark is best but the best british driver is stirling moss indeed followed by lewis
Re: Best British Driver?
I voted for Clark too, but could have made a case for Stewart or Moss too. It's so hard to compare eras, though-most of Clark's career occured before Stewart was in F1, and Clark & Moss overlapped some, but by the time Clark was really getting going Moss had his accident at Goodwood...
Re: Best British Driver?
I consider Jim Clark (almost) on the same level as Senna, so yeah, ol' Jimmy is by far the best.
I'd say Sterling Moss is the best Englishman.
Hamilton as his career has been now, definitely not. He might still get up there, but he'll have to improve on a wider scale, not just being fast and ballsy.
