Most of the motorsport "fans" here discovered motorsport with Alonso. I still remember when I had to buy foreign press on Tuesdays (it arrived with delay) if I wanted to know what had happened in the race the previous weekend :<>:
Similar thing is happening in Brazil. After the failures of barrichello and massa to win a title, people here dont pay too much attention in F1 anymore.
We always hear people say: "after senna died i dont watch F1 anymore."
C'mon! he died almost 20 years ago!

About young drivers, i totally agree that they should have an oportunity.
But it should be the mentallity of the teams, not a rule.

Sooner or later this will (must!) change.
Who was the oldest driver to win a championship? Mansell with the supa dupa mega Williams 92' ? At that time he wasn´t over 40.

HRT could move to the UK and still be a Spanish team if the owners are Spanish... So I don't really see the need of moving to Spain to be "more Spanish". Most of teams (including the british ones) hire people from pretty much everywhere... So If I was HRT I would think a bit more about their priorities and moves...

Maybe in the future IF the team becomes very good then maybe they could be in the position to move to Spain with viability, so at the same time while they move they attract also talented people from anywhere to Spain...

But now? If HRT moves to Spain only Spanish engineers and mechanic will want and be able to work in the team now. Good luck with that. I think there are very talented engineers from Spain but they clearly have no experience... It's gonna be a fail, but then maybe they may end up proving us wrong. At least they could have chosen Madrid, Barcelona or Basque Country (Epsilon-Euskadi anyone? :D) with much better infraestructures than Valencia. It's gonna be a nightmare for the team regarding logistics and personel at Valencia...

Why? based on 2010 race, yes it is the worst place for racing, but the lay out will change, it will be like pre 2010, not like Endurance lay out, and at least it is much better than Korea or Valencia

There are a few interesting data and surprises about how "good" the teams are paying to their suppliers. I have only found the information in German, but I suppose it will also be somewhere in English.

The best teams when it comes to paying are Sauber (only 2 days late payment) and Williams.
Ferrari... well, they went away from the FOTA because they want to spend more, but they are 18 days late on payments behind teams like Marussia (17 days) or Lotus Renault (16 days).

Red Bull, who also want to spend more, are also not too nice paying, but not as bad as Ferrari (not precise information in the article)

You guys think we've ever had such a good line up in F1? The very fact so many drivers could be without a seat indicates this...

I mean, we have 6 world champions and the other four are made up of Massa - close to the 2008 title and multiple race winner, Webber - a very good driver, Rosberg - underrated and Grosjean - GP2 champion and one of the best young drivers around.

Then you have some very good drivers in the midfield such as Kobayashi, Perez and Kovalainen

phil1993 wrote:di Resta is better than you're making out and he lost a handful of points with a ridiculous DTP in Montreal & Force India turning into the Cirque du Soleil in Britain. However, Sutil was still better than him. Got to remember that it was di Resta's rookie season while it was Sutil's 5th. Saying that, the BBC love in was ridiculous.
Yeah, the bloody hype surrounding Di Resta was... let's face it... a bit much all things considered. I just think that, considering the season other rookies had *cough*Maldonado and D'Ambrosio*cough* and some of the really good drivers ie, Webber, Alonso and Massa, Di Resta was good, by comparison.

I am sticking to my guns though.

I think Petrov just needs a better car.

Face it, the R31 wasn't as good as the hype suggested.

Petrov was beaten by Senna over the second half of the season in qualifying and in race pace a lot of the time. Petrov isn't that good and I'm glad RoGro has the seat. However, I now fear Glock will get the boot at Marussia...
