DRS in Monaco

Where will the overtaking zone be in Monaco? The pit straight is probably not wide enough, and the tunnel section wouldn't be so good I think, as it's very narrow and it would be really hard to get through the tunnel turn flat-out.

In Monaco, I would simply leave it up to the drivers to determine when and where to use the DRS. There really is no 1 single area which is long enough to justify its use, so I would simply leave it up to the drivers' and teams' discretion. Given the nature of the circuit, I wouldn't be surprised if some teams choose not to run the system at all.
If I had to pick a place to activate the wing though, I would say it's the start/finish stretch. The tunnel is too tight a turn to drop all the rear downforce in the middle of, and an accident in there could be huge. I say they will probably pick the start/finish stretch to activate the DRS, if not my first idea.

I personally don't think its going to give much of an advantage in the race. But yes during quali the drivers do have the freedom to use at their will which can help them to qualify in a better position depending upon the traffic on the track. I will not be surprised if many teams opt out to run the DRS or maybe the KERS also looking at the twisty nature of the track.

The problem is that there aren't any straights. The start/finish line is curved. The only logical place is right on the exit of the tunnel, but that isn't enough space. Using the DRS from Portier -> Nouvelle Chicane won't work as you will lose too much downforce through the tunnel. Unless you have it activated twice, but thats outside of the rules. I'm hoping that it won't matter as much as you have KERS as well as the tyres to help passing.

I don't think they would setup DRS for Monaco. Too risky .. Kobayashi & Perez are too aggressive and if they are DRS enabled .. i can see Moncao GP being red - flagged !!

You think maybe the FIA will impose a no DRS curfew for this circuit? drivers have complained about the excessive number of controls and lights on the steering wheel as detrimental to their concentration. The problem will be worse than anywhere else at Monaco especially if DRS is a factor.

In Monaco, you need to have a lot of traction, and if you use DRS, you unload the rear and lost the traction, so maybe it may be not use by the team, even if they may have the right to do. Moreover, I think it will be difficult to use DRS at the exit of the tunnel because of the big downhill before the braking to the chicane

Probably for the best, seeing as Monaco is a track that has no real straight, and the loss of downforce given by the DRS could prove too much for some of the drivers to handle.
