F1 on Sky would be a disaster. Everyone was euphoric after the 2005 Ashes win and all the games were on Channel 4 (free terrestrial), then Sky took up the coverage and no-one really cared when the Ashes was won in 2009. Same would happen with F1, it would lose the casual viewer in England.

- Formula1 has been a significant success in 2009/10, exceeding all of its reach, average audience and cost per viewer hour targets.
- It also says that Euro 2008 was the least successful sporting event.

@dank_ross : Rumour has it that the BBC have a get-out clause which could see them lose the rights at the end of the year. But it's just that: a rumour.

Wonder when or if the BBC comments on this. Do some of you have some average viewing figures of last season? I'd suppose those aren't bad at all...

Viewing figures have been excellent and have exceeded expectations. I think they're around five million on a good day, which in a nation of 60 million is very good, especially as it mostly takes place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons which aren't conducive to high viewing figures.

Practice will not be in HD on the BBC, as the Red Button is an SD-only channel.
