Good article.

Can't believe McLaren.. There big mouths will now be shut I guess. "Yes, we have some interesting parts on the car." I can't find them, and if they are there: They are dead slow!

My only hope is that the drivers can save the first half of the season with their skills (ie, better line up than any other team) and McLaren can do what they did to the 24. Last year they got so focused on the blown diffuser that it became like a fixation that they failed with. I'm not confident, not confident at all.

Here are some simulation comparison graphs I made from Barcelona testing (Gün means Day):

Weather:
8th - Sunny, 11-13 C
9th - Overcast, 9-13 C
10th - Sunny, 7-14 C
11th - Overcast, 7-13 C
12th - Wet, 12-14 C

We're going to be going to the first few races of the season with Pirelli not having tested their PZero tyres on 2011 cars in hot conditions. Melbourne will probably not be too bad but Malaysia might be interesting

McLaren's amended running:
Tuesday: Jenson BUTTON
Wednesday: Lewis HAMILTON
Thursday: -
Friday: Jenson BUTTON
Saturday: Lewis HAMILTON

Tyre wear was quite extreme in Canada '10 and Australia '09 too. But those were rare occasions. Now Pirelli had to produce tyres, which degrade faster on every circuit, not just on some. I don't think the season is going to be as bad as the testing has suggested (also higher track temperatures during the season play a role). It could be a 2-stop race on some circuits.

As for being slower in laptimes than Bridgestone in '10 - F1 is constantly aiming to reduce speeds. Bridgestone made very hard tyres, which also kept the reducing laptimes under control.

Buemi had a mechanical issue and stopped on the start/finish straight, and caused a brief red flag about 2 hours ago.
